I was once pushed into the canal by a beered up squaddie while cycling home. Unlucky for him the police caught him five minutes later and he eventually ended up paying me £500 in compensation. Another time after being mugged and beaten for my...
London's a big enough place that there will be someone who can buy this on a whim without thinking about the cost. I guess that's what the seller is counting on. Agreed would have been sensible to include a BIN and delivery if you are asking strong money - as then it becomes a matter of...
As a winter hack bike, it'll do the job. You could put a winter's worth of riding on it, and likely sell it for the (hopefully) small amount you paid for it in the Spring. The handlebars are indeed a plus in my eyes.
How long to you plan to live there? Maybe it is worth leaving for the next home owner to fix.
Leave it, prune any new growth and maybe repoint that wall - and you might be good for another 5 years or so.
Agreed. I've bought bikes remotely, and often its worked out. I'm lucky in that I'm very average when it comes to bikes - providing the sizing is roughly right, I can usually adapt. I don't have any special needs. But nothing beats trying a bike out (secondhand or otherwise) by sitting on it...

Try and avoid fitting you can. I've had one frame destroyed as a result of someone crashing into mine. I mostly ride with a water bottle in my waist pack now.
I used to mountain bike in tweed trousers with cycling clips just to freak out my day glo lycra peers bitd. Now I can't be arsed with such youthful affectations. Now I just ride a mixture of whatever's not in the wash, what was discounted in the middle of Lidl, comfortable for the weather...
Sounds like they were going for a light weight racy build during quite a tight window historically - early 90s. Dia-compe were well regarded for a small time, and for a brief time a few were looking at road mechs (pre-XTR). Suntour stuff was very difficult to get a hold of, but can imagine why...
In the early 90s, Pace were very highly regarded and hardly a modest choice. Pre-widespread availability of stuff via internet etc, they probably went with stuff that was available via mail order/their local bike shop in the UK. Unless you were buying US mags, it's possible they wouldn't have...
