Re: Looks very civilised. Thanks for putting the photos up. I’ve got a couple I’ll add at some point.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park MTB ride 28/4

Re: Thanks for organising. Really great ride and a smashing area to ride around. The trekker felt a bit out of its depth on the trail centre bits but it held together. That first loop was enough for me as, as I knew would happen, my legs gave way and crumbled beneath me.

Re: Last minute thought. What are the payment options in the car park? Can I use a card or will I need cold hard cash?

Re: Don’t build them like that anymore. Think trekker has slightly shorter chainstays and a bit less fork rake (wouldn’t that make for slower steering?)Not sure about toptube though, but with that sort of extreme race geometry I would only reach the gutters.

That looks great - it's the sibling of my Trekker. Similar handling I suspect but the Trekker might be a hair more aggressive? They do ride very well.

Re: Sounds great! See you there. I’ll leave about half 8 so should be in that car park that loops off the a3 well before 10. Blue 56 plate Volvo v50.

Re: So, just thinking about the route and possible/probable leg implosion, will it be a loop with bailout options on the way around, or more of a there and back? I don’t really want to be back home much later than 3pm so that will be me back at the car around 2pm. Don’t want to destroy the fun...

Might try to make it Friday - thanks for the info. Can I sleep in a camper van on-site? I guess there'll be a charge for that but that's fine. Be good to ride the course on Friday evening - usually the fields around there are out of bounds - "gerrof moi laand" (authentic Marke' 'aarborough...

Did your dream bike live upto the hype ?

Re: To be fair, the u brake is quite powerful and I really quite like biopace. Riding both the other day and I didn't really notice a strange pedalling sensation. Probably would have need the same with round rings too, but they're on the bike so they are staying.

I think you are correct, we did just escape. Maybe my luck is changing. Looks like it will get a soaking for most of the week How many are coming?

Re: Many thanks. Will it be the same venue next year or does it change? It's seems very ironic to me that mountain biking has come home to me now that I have left, in possibly the most un-mtb area in the country! I used to bomb around in the eighties looking for every hill and bridleway but...

Kool Stop pads for 1990 Exage 500LX cantis

Hello, Just need a bit of help tracking down some KoolStop canti pads for 1990 spec 500LX brakes. They don't have the stalk on them ,but instead heave a threaded bolt that a nut and spacers screw onto on the other side. Can you still get them? Cheers.

What's the itinerary for this. The location is about 2 miles from my home town and I know Martston trusses well - had friends there as a youth. Only problem is I've got tickets for something on Saturday evening in London, so I take it that the main event is Saturday night? Would really like to...

Did your dream bike live upto the hype ?

Re: Not sure why, though probably blame the parents, but I’ve always been drawn to mid range models. I picked up a Marin I never got back in ‘89 a few years back, upgraded a few bits, and think it rides brilliantly. Same for a Saracen trekker from 89/90 I have ridden today - lovely bike. I...

Slow death of 7 speed cassettes?

Re: Sjs or spa? They might be becoming less popular but, like 26” wheels, there are still millions of bikes out there with them. Hope they don’t stop doing them but intend to use the SRAM ones now.
