Just paid 101,000 yen for a Fake Dirt Shark on Jauce

So an update........Not going to lie I was a bit disappointed to find out this frame was not a legit John Slawta Dirt Shark. Only benefit was having John tell me personally himself on the phone. @raidan73 had a much better understanding of Sharky really is than I did too. If you've seen...

Where can I buy some 5mm Shimano xt canti brake mounting bolts?

Appreciate the replies, but I like the hacksaw to be my last option. @just jacques good call on the disc rotor mounting bolts. Anybody else try this option?

Where can I buy some 5mm Shimano xt canti brake mounting bolts?

I’ve been looking online, but I can’t find anything the right size everything‘s too long. I did find some titanium ones and I ordered a set but they’re pretty expensive. There’s gotta be another option and I bet somebody here knows one.

Just paid 101,000 yen for a Fake Dirt Shark on Jauce

I just had a nice chat on the phone with Mr. Slawta himself. Story goes he went to Japan in 87, brought a few bike frames to try and make a deal with the company that was making ParkPre. They couldn't get a deal done but the Japanese company copied John's bikes and sold them as Landsharks...

Have to admit I've never seen a Dirt Shark in person. All of the Landsharks I've laid eyes on or rode were road bikes, some of which were lugged. Bike has not left Japan yet, but supposedly its packed and will ship next week. So the waiting game continues.

I guess it depends on what your definition of “sharky” is, as it looks really sharky to me

Made some additional adjustments to the Rombo. Michelin tires, Ritchey bars, new grips and a black suede Mundialita saddle. Hoping for an Aluminum only BOTM some day.

Just paid 101,000 yen for a Fake Dirt Shark on Jauce

I took it that @hotwheels was just joking as the paint pattern could make you think that but @27motorhead I agree with you on all fronts paint wise, Mr Slawta would not have had it any other way. When, fingers crossed, it safely arrives I want to reach out to him to get the story on this paint...

I agree @Frankenorange, I stumbled on it with 24hrs to go in the auction, so no plan yet. Probably a mix of nos to nice mt60, m730-34. Suede turbo.

I know, I’m freaking out about it a little too. Still a long way until it’s on my stand. Some of the one off Landshark paint schemes of this era are mind blowers. Couple more pics from the auction.
