For those who know how to braze

That's a good idea actually, hadn't though of that. I know smaller accessories like bottle mounts etc are often put on with silver so maybe that's a good place to start. I've seen oxypropane setups which didn't look too expensive and I think would probably work for my purposes. Less dangerous...

For those who know how to braze

Thanks @jim haseltine , yeah I had a look at the local colleges but everything seems to focus just on welding. Brazing courses are few and far between, aside from bike specific ones but they are very expensive by the looks of it. Out of interest, how long did it take you before you felt...

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

That's really interesting about the seat tube lug actually, never would have guessed that. Would be useful if it was the case as I'd be a bit worried about damaging the stays where they attach the the lug, that looks to be brazed on too. I'll take a look when I get a chance. Thanks so much for...

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

I'm based in Perth, almost as far from plymouth as you can get unfortunately! Still I may have a look around for such a course. Having said that I don't mind messing up a few times to learn it. It's good to know there are viable alternatives to acetylene also, that was one of the more...

For those who know how to braze

How did you learn? I'm very keen to learn this skill but it's an intimidating prospect and it seems like there's a lot to do wrong, even just in terms of getting the right materials/equipment. I'm interested to know how others have learned to do this, what's the best place to start etc?

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

Thanks so much for all the info! The seat tube looks to be brazed into a lug at the top so could possibly even replace that tube entirely maybe. If I was going to do it I'd want to do a proper job, but can't really commit that kind of money to a risky project just now. I'd love to have a go...

Rackless Handlebar Bags - Anyone Use Them?

Thanks! That Tim tas+rek stuff looks lovely! But pricey. I do enjoy a project so maybe that's a good way to go about it, need to learn to weld or braze I think.

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

@danson67 so it looks like two cracks, both propogating from holes. What's possibly more concerning is the amount of loose rust that's tumbling out of that top vent hole. Doubtful of the integrity of that tube.

Rackless Handlebar Bags - Anyone Use Them?

That's a nice piece of kit, where did you get it? I've got a large 20l dry bag that I use but it's unsupported so could use one of these.

    Withdrawn Steel Frameset ~19 inch

Thanks @Spanky22b , I actually pulled the trigger on an old rockhopper frame (ebay special) late last night unfortunately. It's a lovely looking frame though, probably deserves better than I'll do for it tbh.

    Withdrawn Steel Frameset ~19 inch

Hi all, Due to the rusty demise of a rather nice fisher frame, I have some nice old parts that need a new home. It'll need to be a 1inch headtube, preferably around 19inch framesize. Older the better. Can't afford anything super fancy, it's a bike that will get ridden so not looking for...

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

yeah just the game we play I suppose! If its just a crack I'll look into repair, worst case it's rust death. Do you have experience of how much something like that might cost @27motorhead ?

For Sale 1988 (I think) Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo (blue, 19")

Thanks @27motorhead ! Unfortunately on disassembling the bike for cleaning I've found a pretty serious crack in the seat tube, looks like it possibly stems from a rust hole, I'll know more once I get the bb out I suppose. In that case I may have to open the floor to someone with the time and...

'96 Giant Terrago, Euro Aluminium Model

Posting some pics of a recent build. Frame is a 1996 Giant Terrago, aluminium model. This one is from the Netherlands I believe, but not been able to find the catalogue entry for it yet. Most of the parts have been swapped out to build it up to LX overall, including hubs, cranks, derailleur...
