    Thanks to all for replies . The Spa is bit higher than I want to go chain ring size. I shall investigate IRD further. The IRD looks well made , I needed a whisky after seeing the price :eek:

    Well as the years roll on my use of of big gears fades into memory. I now find a 44 tooth front outer chain ring plenty and a 30 inside suits for hilly rides . Rear cassettes 11 to 34 . All well and good on modern machine . On some of the classic bikes I have a 52 ,42 is just to much . I...
