1987-88 Yeti FRO - Local Find!

I picked this one up earlier in the year 5 mins from my work along one amazing Brodie I'll share later. A serial number in the really low 500s puts it as a 1987 to some ... 1988 to others ... no biggie. Its a 1" Yeti :) The bike looked a bit rough when I got it ... but not bad bones ;) This...

    1983 Mountain Goat

Good Eye … it’s got a silver flake with blue fade on the frame and two tones on the fork. It’s pretty.

    1983 Mountain Goat

I have had this one done for a while. Some may remember it as part of the MOMBAT collection. I acquired it via a good friend who was too tall for it. I missed the initial MOMBAT single bike offerings and this was one I really wanted. By design its a deluxe but it predates the model name. Lovely...

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

Here's another one. This was Sherwood's personal Marble Peak and it had its 15 mins of fame if you remember this ad in MBA et al :) That's Sherwood riding ... guy could get it done.

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

It's a super cool frame. I thought about a repaint, bit just couldn't do it. So that roller takes the RD cable to its destination. The FD is bottom pull, there's another cable stop on the other side of down tube and you run some housing to connect the two. Sherwood said it was to keep the...

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

Here's another bike Sherwood sent me. Before Ventana and BMX/mtb parts, Sherwood built some steel frames. That blue on above is Dirt Bag #1 ... the first of 3 he built for himself (he still has one). This is Dirt Bag #4 built in 1985. The first frame he ever sold. The frame, fork, stem, and bar...

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

So Sherwood was excited to see some of his old treasures go to a new home that would restore them. Moving forward a bit to ‘88, Ventana almost became a components company. It debuted a set of prototype hubs at interbike. 2 sets were made. Only a rear is left … others just disappeared in moves...

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

The Marble Peak frame is one of the nicest Aluminum frames I have ever seen and I have owned a ton. It needed a matching stem though ... so I contacted Sherwood to see if he had one lying around. He had 3, and then the floodgates opened and I got some super cool stuff to restore and share.

    The Ventana Wiki - 1985 to 2021

Sherwood did a lot of the development on frames, and suspension parts for a lot of companies. Similar to FTW in that respect.

Sorta playing catchup with bikes and builds here. Sorry for the SPAM. I am going to start a thread on a bit of a lesser known brand by vintage mtb standards and one that deserves a lot more recognition - Ventana Mountain Bikes http://www.ventanausa.com/ Feel free to add your own bikes and...

The Myrah Fat Chance ... Is Done :)

Couple more shots of the frame. Condition wise, it was probably a 6/10. It cleaned up pretty well, but the decals on the DT were done and it was missing some of the other decals that had been removed and left a bit of an outline. Given the history on the bike, it wasn't a going to be a repaint...

The Myrah Fat Chance ... Is Done :)

Myrah's Fat was branded a Wicked. It's not a wicked. I read they wanted to brand it a Yo, but the new graphics were not sorted so they stuck with the Wicked logos. The frame is really light ... near Ti weight and uses different tubing than the stock Wicked. Even runs a different post size, which...
