    Today's Ride

Thought I’d picked another route but been there before almost exactly one year ago: black forest gravel roads from sandy to hardly rideable, temps above 25°, sunshine, yeah! (No water in the well)

State of the industry: a running thread

Over here they have sold more e-bikes than usual bikes last year, for the first time, at an average price of 4000 € (!?). A lot of them are leased, so they need a service every year, you can't just diy. I reckon the state of the industry isn't too bad...

Cantilever brake suggestions for a '94 bike

If you like cx50 I would try LX BR-M550 or the more modern BR-R550. The worst cantis I’ve ever had were Modolo cross brakes. Man, they were so nice, I’ve even organized straddle wires in the US, but didn’t brake at all 😆

Restoring components. What have you done lately?

This week I’ve made two working XT hub sets out of three, replaced pitted cones, some egg shaped balls and binned two of the bodies with damaged cups. No before images but their condition was really bad, gunk covered, corroded (you can still tell from the area around the logos), bearings hardly...

The RB what I bought/ found/scrounged this week thread pt.II

Found a new home for my tools 🦾 I think they are made like this since the 1950s. Quite expensive from new but this was local and a bargain. Needs some tlc but in general good condition 😌

Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

What was the idea behind that front shock? I don't get it. Maybe it should just look like some kind of car wheel suspension 😆

That’s my winter bike https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/todays-ride.303296/post-3522343 It shares some components bags and racks with the summer bike so they are both a rolling spare parts depot 🤓

I even have a summer bike for rides to the pool text town or just cruising in sandals when it’s hot. Wide bars and upright position so you get a lot of fresh air ;)
