    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

I know, the decal set I used was missing that all important decal Maybe I'll try making one with my vinyl cutter 🤔

Yep, always good to have a few parts on one's watchlist 👍 😁

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

A few changes made since the last post: I toned down the gold anodizing of the seatpost clamp to better match the faded look of raceface headset. A quick bath in ZEP industrial Purple, just not too long or the gold will fully disappear! Ended up going with black caged XC pro pedals and put the...

    Early Trek Carbon Fork Question

Thanks for sharing @Guinessisgoodforyou Was a great read, a lovely bike and those black DA components! 😍 I need to spend more time on the road bike section 😁

    Early Trek Carbon Fork Question

100% agree and will do. He’s into his early 20s and I’m just thrilled he’s taken an interest in road riding (has always had an interest in MTBs) My biggest concern test riding his bike was the excessive shutter when applying the front brake, it would really bother me over time. This led me to...

    Early Trek Carbon Fork Question

Thanks so much for all of the helpful feedback! I will definitely give it a more detailed inspection for riding expected to take place soon. I'll also start the hunt for a steel or modern version not only to be safe but it will provide a much better riding experience in the long run 👍

    Early Trek Carbon Fork Question

Late last year my son purchased a 1995 Trek 5200 Carbon road bike with my blessing. I'm more of a lugged steel guy but my son was smitten with the nice carbon lines and amazing red/copper paint, he also likes vintage rigs. Full 600 tricolor components are nice too. I don't have a pic of the...

    1993 Kona Hot

Thanks @Spanky22b I've got a 93' Kilauea, it came with a concept decal and I assumed incorrectly the tubeset of the Explosif The screenshot below from the 93 catalogue is interesting where it shows the Explosif stays being concept (higher grade than the Kilauea super light stays I assume) I'm...

    1993 Kona Hot

For sure the 93' Explosif & Kilauea are prestige concept, it's always possible a previous owner needed to replace the tubing decal and could only source a prestige concept version, I assume your decals are above the clearcoat. @al-onestare is it safe to say the tubing used would have to have...

    1993 Kona Hot

Nice to finally see this. Definitely would be my 1st choice for a steel Kona frame. I'm no expert on whether its suspension corrected or not. If it is I'd guess it would have been minimally. Maybe worth a try to install a 395 A-C fork c/w wheels and see about checking the resulting head angle...

    26" Tan/Amber Wall Tires?

Further to the idea of dried out sidewall refurbishment. I picked up a nice set of green Wildgrippers today, front sidewalls are mint, rear sidwalls were very dried out, sorry, didn't take a before photo but trust me, they were pretty dry, not as bad as the Mega bites above though. I did my...
