    1989 Rock Mountain Blizzard Slope

Thanks as always @27motorhead, for the kind words and detailed observations 😁 I’m itching to get this done but have decided to wait two weeks for the final complete build, hasn’t stopped me mounting the front U Brake c/w Brodie booster to check out the look 😎 I figure decals are safe to apply...

    1989 Rock Mountain Blizzard Slope

Thanks, yes, I was quite impressed with it. I also became quite concerned with some of the toxicity warnings so worked out a way to set up outdoors but still suited & masked up of course. The clearcoat went on easy and I was able to lay down thick coats and did not get any runs. I waited roughly...

    SprayMax 2K Cure Time?

I have just laid down four coats of SprayMax 2K Clear Glossy today and I'm quite happy with the result. How many days or weeks should I wait before clamping down the front derailleur to avoid any sort of forcing of the paint/clearcoat out around the clamp? Probably the biggest concern with...

    1989 Rock Mountain Blizzard Slope

At long last Vancouver got a warm (above average) day today so I laid down four coats of SprayMax 2K (outdoors c/w respirator mask), I'm quite happy with the outcome, seems like I avoided runs and got a decently thick layer on. Now (I'm posting this question in the general section as well). How...

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

So I decided to roll the dice and build the wheel myself, borrowed a buddy’s truing stand. I found a youtube video I liked and really took my time. I took stephan’s advice and made sure the spokes were attached to the flanges the same as a previous build. Overall I’m very pleased with the...

    1993 Kona Hot

I’d be shocked to hear if a cold forged Shimano crank had cracked but who knows, not like you’re considering a set of Cooks or other machines cranks of the day. M900’s would look mighty sweet on your Hot IMHO 👍🏻, matching set of rings are nice 😁

    Ringle Chinese Skewer Repros

Thought I'd give a review of the repro crank caps improvepart offers which are a very close match to the rare and expensive Cook crank caps. I had hoped the finish would be a bit shinier as an NOS black Cook crank would have some shine to it through the anodizing, they have more of a satin...

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

Thanks, now leaning toward 2mm or 14 straight gauge to match the front wheel 👍

Thanks so much for getting back to me here 👍 😁

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

@stephan I'm now seeing 15 gauge or 1.8mm isn't sold as a straight gauge option, 14 gauge 2mm straight gauge or butted 14/15 2/1.8 are probably my two best options, the front wheel is straight gauge 14 or 2mm so probably the way I'll go The spoke length calculator produced lengths of 268.56 &...

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

Thanks so much for this, looks like the spokes previously used to build the original wheel were the correct length according to the on-line tool. Realizing this is a subjective question, what spokes would you order? Straight gauge 15? Or possibly 14/15 or 15/16 butted?

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

Thanks so much for the cautionary advice and pointers from you both, very much appreciated. Overall way my plan is to be as involved as much as possible and lean on other people for their advice and experience, I know a couple locals with a few wheel builds under their belts. Possibly I'll do...

    1993 Cannondale M800 BOTE

@Vesatoro A big thanks for pointing out a "need" to replace the rear hub  I've been in possession of the matching rear Ringle hub to my front hub for a few years now, trouble is one flange is broken. It's a Bubba freewheel version. Your kind suggestion motivated me to start watching...

Rocky Mountain Vertex 1996 (Revolution Cranks Content)

This 1996 Vertex was the obvious choice when decided which bike would get these. Already having the Syncros stem and post, also being in the same era this version of revolutions was produced. Pretty big upgrade!! 😁
