Help with fork & wheels comparability pls

20x110 as you have there was the DH standard for years, since the Judy DHO in 97. Not to be confused with 20x110 boost which is the modern DH standard, the brake mount is in a slightly different place. Best bet is a non boost Hope hub these can easily be converted between 20/15/12 and QR.

Kona’s - best year for frame?

I'm entirely biased :) but you can't go wrong with a 94-95 Prestige Kilauea, with a P2. Superb riding bicycle.

    Riser bar or riser stem?

They could call it a San Francisco. As in a 49er. No? I'll get my coat. 😁

    Peugeot energy 400

Sachs Quarz cantis are a challenge, Maguras are probably the easiest Euro rim brakes to source. :)

    freehub body repair or replace?

I used to have a tool called a Morningstar freehub buddy, it allowed you to pump fresh grease through a Shimano freehub, pushing the old dirty stuff out the back, obviously no good if it's already dead but helped prolong the inevitable and only took a couple of extra minutes on a hub service. My...

    Peugeot energy 400

I did very similar with a 500, never quite hit full Euro spec though. I'd keep the fork as @bikeworkshop says it's part of the frame set. Nice frames, not particularly lightweight so Pulse probably isn't a super high end steel but rode well enough and the internal brazing certainly looks neat...

    Wanted Sachs Canti's

Good luck in your quest, they seem to be like rocking unicorn poop. @ibbz owned the only set of Quarz I've seen outside of the catalogue. I've been looking for them myself, along with a set of original chainrings to complete my Quarz set up. No luck as yet. I guess the rise of the V-brake at...

    1x10 cassette options

Cues cassette goes on a standard HG freehub but is linkglide so uses an 11 speed chain and the spacing is different, needs a Cues mech and shifter. There's probably bodges but I'd stick with HG if you already have shifters/mech. :)

    Frame failure experiences

Orange Aluminium O. Lent to a mate, I'm 5'6", he's 6'3" so naturally he put the saddle right up. Unfortunately it contained one of USE's original shims which were about 40mm long and the leverage snapped off the whole seat cluster. Still grates to this day, bastard never did pay for it as...

29.4 down to 26.8 seatpost shim - does it exist?

I think you'll struggle. Could you try a 27.2 to 29.8 and sand a little out of the slot? It takes up the same 2.6mm difference and is only 0.4mm bigger so should conform when all clamped up. Especially if you use a thermoplastic USE one.

    Bontrager Race

Thanks Matt, That's round about where I was thinking for the bike. I've been out and cleaned it this afternoon, I don't think I can do it just yet! :) It's a beautiful bit of kit and it did take a while to gather the four together. I'm going to enjoy owning them for a while longer. The cash...

Chainsuck - where did it go?

It's another choice, might not be your thing but works for many others. Use whatever works for you, it's all good. :)

Chainsuck - where did it go?

    Yep, like an open airlock.

Chainsuck - where did it go?

Yeah, clutch on, can't have the little switch flapping about! :) It's nasty, fine if it's absolutely pissing it down but once it dries a tad it's super sticky and clogs everything. With rim brakes you have no chance.

Chainsuck - where did it go?

Yes definitely a possibility, see my above edit. At around this time of year I start avoiding the bridleways, it's just not worth it, if it's taken half an hour to get 100 yards and then 2 hours to clean the bloody bike afterwards. It soon goes on the 'no' list!

Chainsuck - where did it go?

Yes, it's M9100 throughout. 👍 😁 Edit: To be fair that day was exceptionally muddy, like clog the bike up completely, won't roll at all muddy. Poke it out with a stick then back to the same 5 yards later. Probably had ten pounds of crap covering everything and walking ended up being the only option.

    Retro vs modern

Cheapskate on both! £12.99 Z-max on the Orange, £30 Specialized on the NS. No choice on either unfortunately. :)
