so old MTB frame to gravel bikes? thoughts? update on 30/06/24

@bikeworkshop i had these GRX levers hooked up to the basic mt200 and the 4 pot deore, both worked fine, i know there is a staff purchase on Hope but i think i have hit my limit this year! might give them a shout but the pedantic in me would feel that i'd need to strip the wheels down and...

so old MTB frame to gravel bikes? thoughts? update on 30/06/24

so i decided to do a bit of moving bits about as i had pretty much decided to try the drop bars on the bike, obvs this means quite a spec change, and a few gremlins have raised their heads. so the bike had Hope brakes, XTR, mechs and shifters, the drop bar i was using was from a previous build...

1989 (i think) Muddy Fox Seeker! the prodigal bike returns!

ok so we have movement. the frame came back from the painters, slight cock up though, i'm not worried though, basically i was expecting the same stickers i sent it with as i asked for exactly the same as original, somewhere in transaltion it ended up with the earlier stickers, i think the...

hey Mr Ox, i have a stem sorted, possibly interested in the fork, size dependent mostly as refurb is always an option, got any pics, steerer details etc?

Wanted anyone got a 1" threaded or ahead rigid fork, or a 1" quill stem that's 100mm x 10 degree?

so i've picked up a nice fat chance, but i'd prefer a different front end as it's old school stretched out! has a suspension fork with canti's but has a stem with a noodle, which is annoying so a rigid fork would make the stem ok or a replacement stem without a noodle and maybe a bit of rise...

    Types of bearing removal tools

looks a bit of a strange one, a pivot bearimng tool is what you need but it looks really deep so even with a proper tool you may have to cobble something together because of the depth. i have the Enduro bearing pivot tools which i do think are very good and you get more for your money with that...

so old MTB frame to gravel bikes? thoughts? update on 30/06/24

ok so i finally got around to building the rear wheel for this gravel conversion, my thoughts initially are to do this as a gradual conversion, so the wheels are built and in the bike, i fitted Pirelli Angel DT tyres as frankly i didn't really want a gravel bike for gravel, i know that sounds...

The end is no longer nigh: Kona Bikes

what i like about this is, they sold it, i'm sure they thought it was a good idea at the time, Kent made a mess of it, they buy it back for less, so there might be some extra money hanging around to make changes or whatever. it's one of those rare moments when it works out for the smaller...
