Tektro RL340 - do you find them comfy?

I haven't thought about checking Amazon reviews. Good idea. Yeah, I'll keep on trying to find a position that works for me and if they don't, oh well, no biggie. If the TRP don't fit me either I'll switch to STI levers...

Tektro RL340 - do you find them comfy?

Hi guys, I just installed a pair of Tektro RL340 and they are the first non-retro brake levers I use. I was expecting them to be similar to the Shimano STI in terms of ergonomics, but they really are not. Do you find them comfy? I know they are very pupular, but so far I found them very...

Building my first bike - choosing the right components

And finally, here she is. Almost done. I only need to put the bar tape, but I am still unsure what brake levers to go with. Her name is Prima and I am very happy with her. My goal was to build a sub-9kg bike with less than £500, but I ended up spending just over £525, and the final weight...

Outer cables thinner than 4mm? Do they exist?

    Ohhhh, nice! Thank you :)

Outer cables thinner than 4mm? Do they exist?

Hi all, The eyelet of the gear cable outer (rear derailleur) of my Hewitt frame is just shy of 4mm. The gear cables outer I have are all slightly too big for it, even without the ferrule. A quick search with "thin gear cable outers" brings me to several options, but they are all 4mm and above...

Sora triple derailleur not working on 39-50 double. Why?

The limits screws are not to blame in this case. They are set correctly, but they only limit (du-uh) the lateral movement of the derailleur cage. I think I understood the problem now: it's the combo derailleur+chain line. When shifting, as the derailleur's cage moves outwards, it also raises up...

Sora triple derailleur not working on 39-50 double. Why?

Hi all, I just finished up building a bike, and I used a Sora FD-3030 coupled with an old DuraAce crankset, with 39-50 rings. It doesn't work. The derailleur just pushes the chain against the outer chainring and jams it there. I played with height, but I am limited by the fact it's a braze on...

FSA vero vs tempo, do they use the same BB width?

Thanks. I found that, but the Vero crankset I saw online has 5 arms, so I wonder if it's a different kind of Vero crankset... I think that in the end I will just get a simple Sugino replica from SpaCycles (£17!) to test the 165mm cranklength and in case I like it, I will consider upgrading

FSA vero vs tempo, do they use the same BB width?

Thanks. I wish it was that simple though...

FSA vero vs tempo, do they use the same BB width?

Hi guys, My commuting bike is currently mounting the stock FSA tempo crankset, which uses a 118mm BB I am thinking to switch to a 165mm and I found a FSA vero. Do you know if these two crankset would use the same BB? It's a new BB and it would save me from replacing it. Thanks

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

I'll have a look at what is the cable pull (I'm using Ultegra 6800 calipers)

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

I agree. Although look at this disocunt https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BLTRPRRLA/trp-rrl-alloy-road-brake-levers?gclid=CjwKCAjw3qGYBhBSEiwAcnTRLrmYAGB_Vh2nAkleW8_1KMQ4gCo4DK9gWRwWtBEv5e-TGZ5fGTSE0RoCQ9wQAvD_BwE#BLTRPRRLA-BLK But I like the simpler look of the Tektro.

I haven't bought them yet. I was thinking to get the Tektro RL340. Any suggestions?

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

I see :) Let's hope so. I actually really like the old-school brake levers with external cables (from the top of the hood), but they don't seem to come in a modern shape with an ergonomic placing for the hands.

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

True. I will only have brake cables though, so maybe not a huge issue.

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

Thanks! Yes, the Soma is a bit expensive, but the Deda is priced quite low.

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

That sort of thing, yes. I guess that 26 is OK. I can get a 26mm stem

    Looking for 25.4mm compact handlebar

Hi guys, I'm building a modern-ish bike based on a retro-ish frame. It has a 1' threaded headset and I'd like to keep the quill stem, but I am unsure what handlebar to match it with. I want to use modern aero brakes, and have them level with the top of the handlebar, so I need a modern...
