    The Welsh Argos

Nob, you obviously know your way around a bike - maybe it's the photo - is there or is there not quite a shadow (gap?) between the seatpost and tube? Is it maybe not as snug as hoped for or am I missing something with it being an unusual way of clamping it tight?

1991 Kona Explosif - The Purple One

Having hoped to snag a pair of 1" Grand Prix from Condor it turns out they've only 1 in stock, and no idea if or when they'll have any more in. Small sob. There are plenty of 1 1/8" tyres about, but was hoping for 1" - a size that seems to be very thin on the ground. The week before last on...

Interesting scoring on that rear rim 'common practice in the 90's' - reaaally? Pricey tho

It ain't a BMX - hopefully the moderators can move it to the pre '98 MTB area!

Woodrup= a name that's been around for donkeys producing and repairing frames - no personal experience but I'd have no hesitation. What's money after all? Spend it, enjoy it. If you've got some money and got kids they won't miss a few hundred quid. They might then have 'dad's' cool old MTB...

Cleland Range Rider (RR-001 English Cycles) Highpath. 1982

Do update us and start your own thread if you decide to 'do' something with it. It must be quite a rare beastie and would be real head-turner and of course you could get back out on it again! I think it would be worth throwing £350-£400 at it as it's 'your' bike. Heaven knows how much it...

Cleland Range Rider (RR-001 English Cycles) Highpath. 1982

Hello Peter, painful-looking crack, but those forks are a-mazing! A frame-builder would be able to give you a new chainstay....at a price.....Mercian publish a price-list on their website....have a try there. They'd be able to make it look like new with paint too if you wish to push the boat...

    BCD Help…Again! 😬🙄

If you're taking apart I like these sort of guides: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0230/9291/files/Measure_BCD.pdf?v=1655387295 I've got a cardboard one from the back of (I think it was) a TA Specialities chainring packet which lives on the shed shelf in readiness.

    1996 Klein pulse 2

Ah, I'm no Klein expert but I spy a rear canti' brake stop, and you have a 'dirty' V-brake! Where are the canti's?! :) Nice and shiny though with some nice bits!

As there's little to no chance nabbing a pair of their eyeball straddle thingies I've taken things into my own hands. These are the real deal - pretty fricking cool. Pretty fricking pricey if you can find some.... Roly over at bicyclist.cc has had some nifty little straddle doodads made -...

1991 Kona Explosif - The Purple One

A real slow burner this one - still unpainted - that'll happen this summer. Picked up a few bits though and a bit of a change in direction. I'm never going to off-road it - my MTBs back in the day ended up built for road speed. Having lived and cycled in London in the 90's/ 2000's I was well...

    Lube in Campag Record hubs?

Just read this thread with interest and thought 'I might buy me some of this Kluber NB52 grease for my wheel bearings' - a quick Google later = no I won't, not when it seems to be £50+ a tube!
