Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 14/11/24

Sneak peak of the Haole in a previous life, the only picture I have as it was featured in an Instagram post from Kona. I only have the frame and forks (the correct Kona shark forks, rather than the carbon ones in the picture) so it is a long term project to build it up. I'll try to get all 3 out...

Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 14/11/24

Well I think I can help out there, I have a red '97 Caldera frame with S/N CA9609126 (19 inch) which is not currently in the list. I also have a '94 Haole with unique original paint (two tone purple/burgundy) with S/N B55077 (55cm), and a '96 Ku with a blue lightning paint job (which I am 95%...

Kona Hot - Isle of Wight

The brake stop might be original, on the Hot serial number list all of the similarly "HT0..." numbered bikes are mentioned as having a rear brake stop. Obviously it would be nice if it had original paint and decals, but I think it looks great, those decals look better than most reproductions...

    1993 Kona Hot

This is nice, lovely colour, and I would have to agree that it is better now.

    Kona Kula/Kilauea 2009/10 18"

There's another one of these on ebay at the moment, ending in a couple of days. Bit cheaper at the moment and a free stand thrown in for good measure! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156444335502

    Kona Kula/Kilauea 2009/10 18"

Apparently the "10" refers to ten extra frames that Torq ordered and gave away for promotions, rather than the bikes the team would have ridden. You can read about it here. It looks like the team were originally riding the carbon Kilauea's before moving onto the Kula's. I have also seen a King...

    Kona Hot 1998

I agree that the decals are all wrong and appear to be repro, and that will probably affect value as they may put some doubt in the minds of potential buyers to whether it is actually a Hot. The paint too as it may not be considered as exciting a colour as other frames (although I quite like the...

    Kona Cindercone or is it?

Hi, the S/N indicates that it was made in Taiwan in Feb '96 (F for Fairly which was one of the two Taiwanese factories Kona used at the time, 6 for 96 and 02 for Feb), putting it in the middle of production for the '96 model year. It can't be an Explosif, because they were used Columbus tubes...

    Kona Hot 1998

Hi, I believe the M/N in the serial number represents the fortnight in the year. 52 weeks, 26 letters so A is the first 2 weeks in January, B the second 2 weeks etc. The number following it is usually a zero or one which might represent whether it is the first or second week, although this is a...

Sorted Kona Explosif - 2004-10? or other steel disc Kona.

Hello, I have an '06 Explosif frame,18 inch (which makes it a medium I think). It's in pretty good condition, other than the odd nick, with no dents or serious scratches. For 26" wheels, complete with the sliding drop-outs for a rear mech. Here are a couple of pictures from the last time it was...

P2 Titanium fork on FB for sale

Hi, if that Hot frame is being offered for sale then I'm certain that at least is a scam as that is my frame (it's TET 367), bought a couple of years ago from someone in Norway (I think). Even the forks (repainted plain black) and the stem (repainted with velocity decals) match, along with a few...

17" decent steel frame and forks

Hi Chris, I've browsed the board for a while but never signed up. Then I saw your post and decided to jump in! Mainly because you are off to Japan, I've been many times and love it! But I've never ridden there and it would be an epic trip. So if I can help you out... I have a 17" '91 Kona...
