No worries. Let him have his last fling with it. I'll be sure to wear a COVID mask, perhaps quarantine it for a week or two, and then fully sanitize it before I ride it......just to be safe. Oh, and I'll wear.....um....."protection".

@coyut, The risk of fitting an entire bike into such a small box is that the parts might rub/scrape together while shipping, which would likely cause damage. Preventing that scenario was what necessitated (in my mind, at least) a generous amount of packing materials. I can't find it, but...

Who'd have thought I could stuff an entire bike into such a small box (38" x 26" x 9")? Cheapest cost to ship from USA to Switzerland was to use USPS @ $230!!!! Before COVID, it cost about a third as much. If it were even ONE inch larger in ANY dimension, USPS would NOT ship it...
