Thanks all. Picked up a bunch of insulin & monitors etc this morning.
Greencat, you have my sympathy - Crohn's is an awful condition, and totally invisible to the world too.
Thanks Greencat.
The collectomy was due to ulcerative colitis as a teenager - lots of steroids and other nasty drugs for years. It's an autoimmune disease, as is diabetes, so I'm almost not surprised!
Well, That escalated quickly.
B12 and D3 levels are now 'normal'...
Buuuut... I wasn't feeling much better, and I've lost a load of weight since christmas. So I saw the doctor yesterday. And then again today., and had a phone call this afternoon; They think I've spontaneously developed Type 1...
Not mine, but looks really good for the money.

Sweet frame.
Set a target weight that you want and are happy with and go for it :) I found that EVERYTHING had to be taken into consideration, and took a fair amount of time and £££, but I overshot somewhat (front Sus & maguras) :)
WOOOOoooooo... Weightweenie!
Everything. Just obsess about everything.
BB and cranks = hunk of weight.
Seatpost & Stem.
What shifters/brakes.
FYI, Shimano is rarely the lightest.
Also had fun on these 15 yrs ago. There was a hill in surrey that we used to go to, as well as being nearly killed a number of times under traction kites.
No brakes, so practice powerslides early! Lower tyre pressures = slower.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I had one, it was made by Alan. unless you have any specific concerns, there are plenty of us riding bonded frames from the 90s.
Any cracks/squeaks/creaks? if not, and it's in generally good condition, go for it.
Thanks Velofrog.
I Kinda don't sell them; That's an 80th birthday present (1944). Taking payment for a hobby makes it work :) I may have to sell off a few in the future, as I have a few stacking up.
"44"
80 layer pattern welded Sheepsfoot blade and back spring (2mm thick). 1.6mm Brass liners. Rosewood scales. Stainless pins & torx screws. Exactly 100g in weight. About 30 hours to make.
Non locking and under 3" blade to be UK legal.
"Sharp enough to shave with".
Y'see this it what fascinates me. Three STUNNING frames, but each has something about the build that I don't like and "ruins" them for me! I'm not being snobbish or anything, just saying that it's wonderful how our tastes are all different.
3 fantastic bikes.
when the itch needs scratching, nothing else will do.
My 93 Fire Mountain may be my favorite bike, and it cost me £50. A 92 or 94, or even a 93 Lava dome would not have done it. Equally, My Lotus took me 20 years to find.
Keep looking :)
