Did Claud Butler do a Pagan in black in 1992

No, that’s a Q, stands for 1992. A for January. C for March… That of course doesn’t mean these parts couldn’t have found themselves on a late 92 bike. Especially as they hadn’t sold well (the pearlescent version)

Did Claud Butler do a Pagan in black in 1992

Hello… yeah that’s a legitimate original paint job. Late ‘92 early ‘93. The pearlescent purple didn’t sell very well and they were planning on changing the whole range to aluminium frames shipped in from the far-east during ‘93. So a bunch of stuff got painted black in a pseudo Cape Wrath style...

    Claud Butler 1960?

Yeah those rear are cast, possibly Agreti? The only model that year with cast dropouts was the Cordon Bleu. Although the lugs don’t match up with the 1962+ models (like mine, see in my description links below) That doesn’t mean it isn’t as Holdsworth were mucking about a bit in the first few...

    Claud Butler 1960?

on the face of it, looks like an early Holdsworth Claud and I agree, the number points towards 1960 I first thought Challenge or Coureur but then I noticed the rear dropouts look cast not stamped? If cast front & back perhaps an early Cordon Bleu. Over the first few years Holdsworth did muck...

    Claud Butler European 1959 transfers

Hello @awac Yes that decal was used on the seat tube and occasionally on the head but typically only on track/path bikes. Your bike would more likely have had the riveted stamped metal badge also sold by Lloyds EDIT…. Some of the smaller frames didn’t have enough space on the head for the metal...

    Applying decals...

TBH… the only real advantage to using the wet method is when you have large areas of clear such as with my Titanius in the initial post because the issue wasn’t do much the positioning more of making sure the clear areas had nothing underneath. As with most things in life there’s always other...

Hello @codydaniels sorry for the late reply, Christmas & all that. Ok, so what have we got… Well the full brazing, fluted stay tops, continental rear drop outs and that particular bridge combination all shout pre-1950 Also the number combination doesn’t fit the the 50’s lists I would hazard a...
