Simple First Project that won't break the bank

Re: See: You learn something new everyday. I didn't relaise GT carried on with the non- triple triangle frames for that long. Diamond Back are worth a look as are Marin. Both brands are oddly underrated and bargains can regularly be found on Ebay. Dawes are also worth considering.

    95 GT Pantera Fork Upgrade

Re: That looks like a '96 frame to me, so a Judy would be perfect. However you could also consider other forks from that era. most will be early air forks or elastomer though, both have their issues, but parts can still be found for most of the major brands with a little searching around.

Simple First Project that won't break the bank

Re: Judging by the photographs, it may simply need a good service. It doesn't look like its had a very hard life. If it does need anything replacing, you shouldn't have any problem sourcing new modern parts to replace the originals. You can still get threaded headsets, square taper cranks &...

    1993 Clockwork

Re: Nice new photo which shows the light grey of the frame better. I've also changed the grips for some white Ritchey style ones which aren't as dominating.

Simple First Project that won't break the bank

Re: That's a nice early GT frame, pre triple triangle too. They don't turn up very often. looks to be in good condition from the photographs. Must be worth £50 of anybody's money as long as it has no major issues. You could do a lot worse for a first project. EDIT: Looks to be a 1988 model...

    1994 Saracen Kili Flyer

Cheers chap. I'm pleased with progress so far. Steerer is already cut, so there's no going back now! I've got a spare pair of forks, the later set with red, white & blue decals are surplus to requirements really. I was going to hang onto them but could be persuaded to part with...

    1994 Saracen Kili Flyer

Re: I've swapped the canti brake bridge off my original pair of U.S.E. forks onto the NOS pair (These have the correct steerer for this build). ...and have hung them off the frame with a Pace stem and U.S.E. bar and bar end combo, I've fitted a U.S.E. seatpost topped off with a Flite...

    1994 Saracen Kili Flyer

Re: So now the build could begin in earnest... I was originally going to go with a Hope headset, but as these weren't around for another ten years after the frame was manufactured, I decided to go with an Orbit in the end. The frame came with a UN71 bottom bracket, but unfortunately the...

    1994 Saracen Kili Flyer

Re: Now there was just one fly in the ointment... I didn't actually have a frame to hang everything off. So the search began and it has led to the purchase of the following frames over the last few months... 1992 Dave Yates Diabolo- which turned out not to be suitable for...

    1994 Saracen Kili Flyer

Re: So; This build has been a long time in the brewing. I've been planning it for a couple of years now and collecting parts together over that period to add to the those I already had. It started to come together property when I bagged a couple of U.S.E. Stealth forks two or three...

    Royce, Hope or Middleburn BB

Re: Blimey! I won't be buying a new one at those prices. Okay, still on the lookout for a nice British made square taper bottom bracket, 73mm shell & 110-113 axle. Oh, and one that I won't have to see a kidney to buy would be nice. :D
