    weinmann delta brakes?

Re: I had a set once. Actually not bad brakes mechanically although (a) the rubber waterproofing covers look a bit ugly and (b) pad holder-to-wheel spacing is a bit limited, so be careful what brand of blocks you go for. David

Mansion Tax, Oh Boy What A Gaff!

Not bad. Still has some way to go in order to beat Russell Howard's "racist in public, so you don't have to be" DM slogan though. ;) David

Mansion Tax, Oh Boy What A Gaff!

Couldn't agree more. It's a flawed marker of success (IMO) and in Europe at least seems to be a peculiarly British thing - in Germany owning rather than renting your home is the exception rather than the perceived norm. The newspapers' [1] obsession with high house prices doesn't help matters...

    1983 Coventry Eagle Town/Touring Bike, Reynolds 531, 23"

I wouldn't worry too much, based on what I've seen of the show so far that spelling is still isn't as wide of the mark as some of the cast's accents. ;) David

    Peugeot Randonneur

Dunno what the OP would do about a BB unit. But the Stronglight A9 headset, even in this day and age, can still be had in French-thread format. David

    58cm British Eagle Touristique

A bit tatty cosmetically, but yet another bargain example of one of BE's criminally under-rated 531 touring bikes on eBay here (at about half the BIN price of a Galaxy, nuff said): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRITISH-EAGLE ... 484wt_1141 David

Village girls go on a sexual rampage!

Hopefully not too literally. I think we've heard more than enough in the press about Brooks Newmark's meat & two veg already. David

Mike783 - anyone been in contact?

Re: Well, I've sent another reminder so let's see what develops. At the moment it's a case of "no details on the noticeboard, I was completely in the dark."* David *Well done to anyone who can spot the reference without recourse to a search engine. ;)

WTD: 44cm edge-edge double groove drop bars

Re: I saw them on the PX website a few weeks ago, kind of assumed at that price that they were a "once it's gone it's gone" kind of item, and back then they were out of stock. May have to reconsider! David

Mike783 - anyone been in contact?

Re: Still a no-show, sadly. Anyone else had any problems with stuff bought from this member? None of my communications have been answered. Looks like my £13 has been well and truly lost. David

WTD: 44cm edge-edge double groove drop bars

Does anyone have a surplus pair of bars (black or silver, not fussy) in OK condition with no accident damage to suit my touring bike? Should be 44cm (ish) between outside edges with double cable grooves and a 26.0mm diameter centre section. Still soldiering on with some slightly bent 3TTT ones...

    Who remembers these...

Re: Do I detect TWO playing cards in that picture? I'm only asking because, as we all know, you get nothing for a pair, not in this game!* David *Other clapped-out catchphrases are available....available are catchphrases clapped-out other ;)

how many active sim cards in your household?

One here too, but then there is only me in the household. Not that I use the mobile very much - 6 and a bit years of living in a village with frustratingly crummy reception even for texting (although I've now moved to a built-up area) means I'm still a big fan of landlines wherever possible. Odd Raleigh 653 frame

    Odd Raleigh 653 frame

I stand corrected on the issue of the seat tube decal! It's a later model than Shaun suggested, though, as it has "5 o'clock" rear brake cable guides (typical late 80s/early 90s Raleigh) rather than ones on the very top of the top tube. David

    Odd Raleigh 653 frame

Re: The embossed seat stays are usually a good indicator of quality Raleighs of a certain era, but in the official catalogues (see the 1989 Lightweight brochure in the RB archives) not all framesets, even near the top of the tree, had them. :? The decal font and the braze-ons/fork crown style...
