Were any Zaskar LE frames made in Japan?

Not off the top of my head, no - unless Gil has them on file? (Always worth asking) to be honest though, I used to use a sharkfin (as damage limitation!) to avoid pitting from chain slap.

Nice! Green rims are very cool as well. Although your Mags seem in need of love (awards self prize for stating the obvious). I used to run my mags with a Hope hub and a gorrilla brake booster back in the day, they used to get a bit floppy otherwise!

Were any Zaskar LE frames made in Japan?

Re: Were Zaskar LE frames made in Japan? From what I know they were all made in the states until the late 90s, then they went overseas. Don't remember hearing about Japan but I would have thought it was jist a sticker someone else thought was cool - I used to put Mint Sauce stickers on mine :D...

Disc brakes v Rim brakes - Food for Thought

I seem to remember losing hours in the 90s with match sticks and rubber bands, trying to toe in canti pads. After a few years it wasn't too bad but even then not as easy as parallel pull Vs. After a lot of experimenting I eventually used to run Onza HOs with yellow koolstops (I think?) and they...

    Fun with hubs

Oh, and to strip down the front wheel now and check that too! And then source bearings.

    Fun with hubs

So... bought a couple of M565 LX hubs a while ago and only just got round to building them up as wheels. Took them out for a little shake down on the pavement yesterday and eveything felt very wobbly... drive side cone was loose (moving up and down in the cup). So tightened everything up... same...

Headset extension spacer with fastener? What is that for?

I'd guess it was wanting to lift the handle bars up combined with not wanting to cut thr steerer tube. Fpr my money I'd get a riser stem to lift thr bars to where you want them to be, and yhen cut them down. But that's just me - sure plenty of other people would take a different approach. :)

    spoke length/wheel-building guru's insights required ...

I used this recently, and did lots of measuring! http://www.sapim.be/spoke-calculator For what it's worth my fronts were 264mm and the rears 264 (non-drive side) and 262mm. This was a mid 90s lx hubs though, but also three cross. Def worth measuring several times before commiting! To measure...

    Suggestion for BOTM...

Anyone considered bso of the week? Remember visiting a car site years ago (barry boys?) where they ran shed of the week... which was reader submitted photos of kid's metros with bits of plastic fibre glassed on and 6r4 badges stuck on the back. You get the idea. Could be a laugh. :D Edit...

    Suggestion for BOTM...

Re: I quite like the idea of a 'bike you like' - which doesn't have to be nos, or even necessarily finished. Just a great thread with a great bike at the heart of it - whatever state it happens to be in. From a personal point of virw, I can see how something like that could inspire someone to...

    Suggestion for BOTM...

For what it's worth I'm guessing it was just in relation to the 'it'll become an invite only club' comment. Although, to be honest, I read that as I think you intended it - which was just as a thought in the general discussion, rather than singling anyone out for abuse. Just my reading though...
