Swap 1988 Jett Fillet Brazed ATB / MTB med

~1988 Jett, fillet brazed by Scott Jett in Chico California (as far as I know) Size Med 21.5" top tube c-c actual 18" seat tube c-t Not a light bike, the tubing seems to be substantial. It rides very well in my opinion, very well mannered, ideal for leisurely "touring" or light dirt path...

    ~1988 "Jett"

Finally found some old Specialized Hardpack tires in good condition to get this thing rolling. At 26 x 1.5 they're smaller than I would like but they at least have some proper old school looking tread. Swapped the handlebar, seatpost and grips, and gave it a light cleaning. Haven't bothered with...

the unofficially cool MTB drop bar thread

My "random crap I had lying around" drop bar commuter/fun bike. Well, the surly corner bar approximates dirt drops, more or less....

    26" Tan/Amber Wall Tires?

How are these working out? Curious what they measure out to as well.

    ~1988 "Jett"

Looks like inside chainstay width is measuring out at an even 60mm... Terra Ones might be fine in dry weather (I was being overly optimistic 😅). Anyone know what the Fairweather XC CG 26" measures out to? The tire currently mounted on the rear is a 2.3" Nokian Freddie's Revenz for snow use...

Ah, good to know. Are there agreed upon alternatives?

    ~1988 "Jett"

Haven't ridden it yet, I think the tire that's on the rear currently is too big and I'd be worried about chewing up the chainstays. Thinking about ordering some Terra Ones for it! I'll post a report once I've taken it on one of the local trails!

    ~1988 "Jett"

Interesting craigslist find. Listed as an '88, seems about right, group is M730. As best as I can tell the builder was Scott Jett out of Chico, California. Not much online about him, looks like he built a few road and mountain frames. This is exactly as I picked it up yesterday. Need to swap...

    Irtda Arksha build thread

Update is I think this frame wants a suspension fork... the problem is that none of my forks clear the dt. I'm kind of thinking about having someone machine a shim to bring my crown race seat up about 4 mil. I know that might be kind of cheesy but this frame is already toast in a couple ways so...

    Irtda Arksha build thread

Ha yes it's one of the famed "dirt sharks", but I like Slawta's offbeat sense of humor when it comes to naming and labeling. One of the dt bottle bosses must have cracked and a previous owner filed it out to be a smooth round hole. Just barely visible in one of the pictures. Not the worst damage...

    Irtda Arksha build thread

This frame got donated to the shop where I work and, since it's (tragically) broken, I brought it home at scrap price. I've always wanted a Slawta bike. Ultimately, I'll be getting the tube repaired... but while it's sitting around in my room I thought I'd start throwing parts on it. Just...

Who made these cnc bar ends?

The usual search terms didn't bring anything up for me. I feel like I've seen them before though, and didn't think they were all that rare.

Sugino Tension Disc Wheel - 700c - NOS / NIB - Tioga Disk

Any chance one of these is still available? Just picked up a Sugino75 road groupset so this would be just the thing to finish it out.

"Cycling" magazine Nov 1956, "Bicycling" Dec 1987(?)

Wanted: "Cycling" magazine November 1956. Contains report on 1956 Cycle Show at Earl's Court. (Alternately, looking for any materials covering the 1956 Cycle Show). I may also be interested in "Bicycling Magazine" December 1987, if it is indeed that issue which highlights the Gary Helfrich...

What state is retro biking in at the moment?

Re: Re: Almost describes me- I'm in my 30s, worked in a shop a few years back and just bought a Klein. But I'm a big nerd. I make hand-drawn 90s mtb art (like my avatar) and cast bronze mtb jewelry and stuff like that. Speaking more broadly, there's an older guy that rides a Dolomite Attitude...

    Klein Fervor w/ Lawwill Leader

Hi everyone! Just picked up this slightly odd bike the other day- a Fervor kitted with Lawwill Leader, XT 737, and a smattering of Ringle bits. Some folks might have seen this on Ebay- luckily, the guy selling it was local (he also had it on CL for quite a bit less), so I went and had a chat...
