Is it worth the effort? To me of course it is!

Good Point... Maybe I'll take the reflectors off the wheels altogether and put them on the handlebars pointing left or right for traffic or runaway children or maybe just point them at me saying here I am.... I'm the target. By the way this bike stands up without the sausage, pump or red arrow...

Is it worth the effort? To me of course it is!

I set off on my 20mile test ride along a Sefton Coastal Path. It was so good to see so many families out with young children enjoying the fresh air and great outdoors. The path crosses the River Alt near to Hightown as it makes its way down to the sea. The cycle path is very popular, but...

Maybe a months delay completing this because of other commitments, but will get the grandchildren involved in the rebuild, and of course they get the promise of the first ride. Thanks to you both.

Decals on and nicely centred. Just the two coats of clear lacquer and a full respray of the pannier rack before the rebuild begins.

Quality Chrome in Hull. We had difficulties finding a more local chrome platers. Local bike shop has used this company before. Pleased with the result. The Campagnolo dropouts look great.

Thanks for the above Allen . Not sure I dare try degreasing in the sink. I think that would be the last straw, but who knows maybe when the dust has settled a bit. I am looking forward to the rebuild and letting my grandsons try it out, but this will be a slowly, slowly from here on as I also...

That’s good advice Jamie, I'll give it a go after the first lacquer coat. The decals cost more than the bike, so don’t want any wonky fitting. Any news on that banner yet?

Thanks to my good friend Frank for his expertise and labour and to Peachy, Jamie and Allenh for all their encouragement. I think the tricky bit for me will be avoiding runs at the clear lacquer stage and correctly positioning the decals.. Incidentally not everyone has bike bits hanging on the...

What a lovely Easter. Yesterday I brightened up a few of the Routiers bits. Today we applied two coats of paint to the frame and the project is going well. I will leave it a couple of weeks before applying the first coat of clear lacquer.
