    Venturelli

My brother in law just purchased this locally. I don't know too much about it but I like the lugged frame with horizontal top tube and chromed rear stay and chrome forks. It has Shimano kit on it, I think Exage 300. Not really sure how good bad or indifferent it is but if anyone has any info...

Is it worth the effort? To me of course it is!

+1 for the skills and interest transfer. Also in these days of disposability, I applaud the attitude and approach to not just re-invigorating a "jumble of metal bits", but also invigorating the minds and attitudes of youngsters to realise that not everything is disposable. Kudos to you, sir...

    Brake Compatibility.

Yes - the BR5800 are the latest incarnation of 105 brakes - I have a set as I had to fit long reach brakes to the bike I had bought the groupset for. I guess the other option is to "suck it and see", Just fit them and try it. I thought I'd ask the well informed and well educated folk on here...

    Brake Compatibility.

Hi, I'm rebuilding a Raleigh, which had some Dia Compe BRS Blaze levers (concealed cabling) and Dia Compe calipers. So I broke the spring on the front caliper, can't find a replacement spring, and, having a pair of Shimano BR5800 calipers was considering fitting those. Two questions really...

    Chainring clearance

I originally had in a 118mm UN55 BB. The LBS removed it, and installed a longer one - the longest they had was 123mm. and also installed a spacer to offset it a little too. All working now.

    Chainring clearance

Yes Shaun it would have had originally but it had been swapped out probably 25+ years ago for a FAG plastic sealed BB. It was butchered out hence the requirement for having the threads chased.

Wheelset MAVIC 500 hubs laced to Mavic CXP12 rims

Hi Denzil, I have a few questions please.... What is the rear spacing? Is the rear block a cassette or freewheel? Are they running true with good spoke tension? What tyres are they? How much do you reckon for postage? Sorry for all the questions :?: :?: Cheers, DG

    Chainring clearance

Don't think it could be Shaun - it's a Shimano UN55 BB http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod71369 that has a fixed threaded section on one end - so I believe it can only be screwed in from the correct direction.... Fitted by the local bike store too....
