    Re: Only just seen this thread, yep Motobecane logo, this was the last incarnation of the logo and IIRC was introduced in 1976 :D

    Re: Cheers! Hoping to take more photos out on a ride, just waiting for the temperature to drop a bit, I'm sat in my old cave like house and it's a nice comfy 29c which is cool compared with the outside world :shock:

    Re: FINISHED PHOTOS We took the 'twins' out for the first test run this morning, Mrs T loved it, she said "smooth as silk! she's used to clip less pedals so found rat traps a novelty, and was entirely happy with 42/52 chainrings! :D (Those are goats and sheep in the background, not lions!)

    Re: Weather cooled a bit so I have just taken the bike for a spin around the block to test out my handy work :D First impression, feels lighter, tighter, rolls faster than mine! Can't be having that :D Quiet, no rattles, all working fine. Saddle is too far forward and too high and too low...

    Re: Threads stretch under tension so cotter pins usually develop 'waists'. Future tip put two nuts on the cotter pin and hit the outer nut with a large hammer this shock will free it up and protect the threads, but I guess one always uses a new cotter pin anyway as they are easy to get hold of :D

    Re: If scratched you will end up removing the anodized surface anyway so as hampster says have a look at aluminium painting, for example old Land Rover restoring sites they have a lot of info on prepping aluminium for painting.

    Re: If they were decent forgeries i.e. You Can't tell them apart from the originals then they could be accused of trying to mislead, but they're not good forgeries :D

    Re: Clearly they are fakes, no argument, but they are not really very good fakes as the shape is all wrong, no smooth curve etc so that is why I think the price is indefensible, if you couldn't tell them apart then they would be good forgeries, then I would admire them :wink:
