Interestingly, the issues they had with breaking weren’t the frames. The moulds cracked and were never repaired/remade. That’s why there are so few of the bikes. They just stopped making them after the moulds broke. And secondly, the paint is from Ferrari and relatively thick. It’s the car...

Finished. 89/90 Paul Donohue filet brazed MTB with Paul Donohue fork. Full DX in amazing condition, Ritchey Megabite K Zmax tyres, Turbo Matic saddle, T-Bone stem, Ritchey WCS grips, Columbus SL handlebar. Very rare, very lovely.

Cockpit sorted, I’ve gone for classic reliability. Ritchey WCS foam grips, SS5 levers and DX thumbshifters. Just awaiting saddle and I can finish it.

The clean up continues. The components are in very good condition it appears. Just awaiting the thumbshifters, then I can pretty much finish this.

My thoughts exactly. It’s cleaning up nicely. I’m going to put DX thumbies on as the brifters are temperamental, sort out the cabling and put a turbo saddle on. Job done.

Cheers all. I’m not sure if I’ll ride it just yet. The tyres are 35+ years old and it’s too small for me. Will see what happens, I may take it for a gentle bimble. As far as I know they’re very comfortable to ride, the lack of seatpost gives it good vertical compliancy.
