1960's Bluemels AFA pump seals wanted..

Thanks ever so much for that 'bagpuss'.. I appreciate it. In the end, and quite by accident, I came across sellers on Ebay who were selling the very thing I was after for very little money. However, after writing to one of them, I had a very honest reply, saying my pump almost certainly was...

1960's Bluemels AFA pump seals wanted..

Can anybody please point me in the right direction for seals to refurb my 1960's Bluemels pump ? I've looked in all the usual places, FleaBay etc, but nothing's forthcoming. I bought it when I was a lad, so I'd really like to get it working to compliment my Sun Snipe Plus bike. Its like the one...

    Colour ideas please .

Are you well into the refurb 'bagpuss'.. I've been wondering if you were making progress. Re the colour.. how's about a light turquoise.. Although I'm distracted by other things at the moment, I'm quietly acquiring parts for the Sun Snipe Prestige with a view to a refurb at some later date.. 👍

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

Well.. I think its about time to wrap up the thread on my Sun Snipe Plus refurb. I must say I've enjoyed doing it, and seeing its had 2k views gives me a great deal of pleasure, and I hope those who viewed the thread got something out of it too. I've now got myself a lovely new/old 60s retro...

Steel frame - repair or replace a cracked dropout - advice needed

That shouldn't be a problem for a skilled tig/mig welder, preferably someone used to doing light fabrication type work. Its certainly the route I'd take. I'm sure all will be well after.. 👍

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

Ok.. a few more pics, I think this is the last of them.. ha ha.. ;) As I sit in front of my laptop with a howling gale and lashing rain going on outside, the sunshine and the finishing of my bike seems aeons away now.. Roll on the spring.. 👍

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

Its funny what sometimes triggers a memory.. your mentioning of Simplex gear got me wracking my brains for a mech that seemed to be on a lot of bikes when I was a kid. I got there in the end.. Benelux. As a schoolboy I remember typical uninformed discussion/argument about their merits/demerits...

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

I note you're after a Simplex rear mech.. is this because your old Sun bike had one fitted originally, or as a preference re mech's. I ask.. because my Snipe Plus back in 1965 was fitted with a Huret Allvit mech as standard. The one on my project bike has long since gone of course and been...

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

I'm glad to hear the thread has got you in the mood for a project 'bagpuss'. Restoring the Snipe Plus has certainly given me many hours of pleasure, and the end result was most definitely worth it. It certainly brings back lots of memories of "my first sports bike" all those years ago, and just...

new project: 1936 professional racing bike

I just need to say that bike is something else.. some of the detail is just magnificent in my eyes.. A great project, and (to me) such a shame you're going to change the wheels..

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

Ok, here's a few more photo's to peruse. Not the greatest of quality as I've said before, but they do at least give some idea of what the Snipe Plus looks like now. A few more to come after these too..

    1968 - Worksop - Sun Snipe Plus..

Back after a laptop disaster, and never got to finish my thread. A prepared draft seems to have disappeared too which is upsetting. Still, I'm hoping to retrieve lots of data which included all the photos of my Sun Snipe Plus and finish my thread with them, which at the end of the day was what...
