    before restore after Yes (both) Simplex mechs has been restored. As evething else. Saddle and (Benotto-like) bar tape is new. Only the balls which appears to be dices and the grease (like dried peanut butter) has been renewed, ofcourse... my caballero (already earlier seen in this theater...

    The green one is a "compact" version. A 5 speed body, and with the green spacers and special other cogs it is made into a 6 gear. The number 3 is indeed a threaded one. And probably a 6 speed body can be changed into a 7 speed.

    I agree with you where it concerns conventional bar tape (unwrapping). But with Benotto which is very thin and can be streched during mounting this is not an issue. That is what experienced.

    A common problem with the ALAN. As long as they live. In the earlier years there was a life time garantee. In those days a frame of mine did travel to Italia two times. And did came back after a long time. In Italia live goes less fast.... :-)

    Indeed, a dubble (strong) set of toeclips. And mounted with bolts on each side of the pedals. To keep room under the pedal for the shoe plates. Which were sometimes mounted with some spikes or football studs for extra grips. Those were the days.... :-)

    Ideale 70 on my 1970 replcia caballero teambike. Ones you handle with care each month with a good leather cream to be dried in the sun it keeps fit.
