So, ummmm, some of the play was a loose rear disc brake that translated to the forks wobbling when I rocked the bike LOL After tightening it, there was little play with the forks fully assembled. Got some new bushings on the way, so a rebuild will happen.

Thanks, I have managed to source some new bushings through a member on here. I have been thinking that a very thin shim maybe the way to tighten the forks up. Glad someone else has had the same thought as me!

Re: Re: When I purchased the forks, they were without oil. They ay have been ridden with an oil leak, or ridden hard for their 15 years before I picked them up. I didn't take the seals out as you need a spare set as they are a single fit item. I have some more on order, and I am going to...

I think I do. They'll be hard to find, regretting not buying more spared when they were available lol! I took the stanchions out to check everything was there, and thankfully it was. The seals are five years old now, and sat unused for close to four years! I think i'll order a new set and...

I changed the oil seals and wipers when I picked the forks up years ago, and then only rode them a few times! One of the oil dampers appears to be quite worn, so I think it may be that

I am not sure how to describe it best, but there is flex between the stanchions and the lowers when checking if the headset is loose (front brake applied, and the bike being moved back and forth slightly). The hub probably moved about 5mm...
