Gitane 1980s frameset - French or Swiss BB?

Hi folks, I'm talking to another forum member about a nice 1980s era Gitane frame in Vitus 181 tubing and finished in the pro-team shade of blue. We're having trouble removing the drive-side crank from the spindle, the self-extracting bolt is seized and isn't budging. So I tried to...

Wheels - Wolber TX, CXP21, Super Champ M D'Or, Campag Hubs

Hi Shaun, I just checked down in the garage - I have a Super Champion Arc-en-Ciel rim only in 28H spoking that I've been using occasionally to stretch tubs out before gluing. As a rim it's a bit heavier than the Medaille d'Or but maybe it would work as a rear partner to the front? Let me...

Shimano Alivio MC16 crank 175mm, pair or left only

Hi folks, I'm looking for a Shimano Alivio MC16 left hand crank in 175mm, like the one shown below: There are some crank pairs and full cranksets on ebay, but I'd prefer to get just the left crank if possible. I'll consider taking a pair, if that's all that's out there. Cosmetic...

Re-centering a Mavic Ksyrium Elite rear wheel

Re: Quick dumb question before I get started - is there anything particular I should bear in mind considering the wheel only has 20 spokes? With traditional wheels it's normally a case of working round the wheel alternately loosening and tightening each by a quarter- or half-turn, according...

Re-centering a Mavic Ksyrium Elite rear wheel

I just pushed a few sections of the rim tape to one side and the rim bed isn't drilled all the way though. So it's strange that the tape is there. The wheels are as they were when I received them - I guess the previous owner put the blue cloth rim tape there. Old habits die hard I guess...

Re-centering a Mavic Ksyrium Elite rear wheel

Re: Re-bumping my thread now that I've finally taken a few photos ... The first couple show the extent of the offset, with the wheel just flipped around in the jig. It's about 5mm total, so needs to be shifted away from the drive side by about 2.5mm. The spokes are steel and it looks like the...

Shimano STX RC MC33 LH Crank Arm 175mm

Re: thread piggyback/hijack alert! Hi, I don't like to hijack the thread but I'm also looking for one of these cranks, if there's another floating around in a spares box? Condition not so important. Cheers, Gareth.
