Old 5 bolt hubs, new disc sizes - overlap?

Re: OK OK haha  What caliper is it out of interest? I thought pretty much all brake's since the old hope c2's etc were post mount style.

Old 5 bolt hubs, new disc sizes - overlap?

Surely if your using new-ish calipers they will be post mount and use a pm-is mounting adaptor? If so just just put your washers between the caliper and the adaptor. You only need 2.5mm of spacers under there.

A teenage dream! 1998 DMR trailstar project

Re: So I decided that after spending all this time and money sourcing the best condition/NOS parts for the build, the rattle can spray job just didn't cut it so I sent the frame for powder coating. I found a scan of the original magazine advert and decided I wanted to replicate the frame as...

Re: I doubt those little M6 bolts will be man enough to stop the wheel slipping when my 16st arse starts jumping stair sets etc so I'll be needing tugs. I have a pair of modern 10mm BMX tugs and also a set of DMR tugs with a mech hanger attached but I would be very interested in some straight...

Funnily enough I realised that the BB axle has the central bearing support machined onto it (not a separate spacer like you would expect) so the only way to remove the crank is to pull it off with a bearing puller. You cant just knock the axle through the other side. That would get boring very...

Re: So I decided to use the Revolver hub and sell the Hope to raise a few extra pennies for the build. Kid's are upstairs watching a DVD before bed, the wife is at work so I've cracked open the last of the Christmas beer, got some early 00's punk on the stereo and started building my wheel...

Re: Right, seen as I'm on a roll with the build I want to get it on it's wheels as soon as possible so I can see how it sits. Back in the day I used to sit truing my chocolate Sun Ditchwitch rims for the thousandth time and dream of a pair of D521's so there was never any question that's what I...

Re: I've had an Azonic Shorty Delux in 75mm flavour in the parts pile for ages. It's in great condition but all my recent builds have either been too modern or lightweight XC style for it to be of any use. Its perfect for this build but the 45mm stack height is a bit of a problem. I'd of loved...

Re: Re: Yeah I know. They also did the sidekick forks that were designed to go with the sidekick frame for trials use. Very similar but with curved blades. Not a fan of curved forks on a MTB personally. They never seem to look right. Only issue with these forks is the steerer is a bit short at...

    Bash guard/chainring bolts?

Yeah some of the plastic (polycarbonate?) guards are quite thick. I seem to remember having an e13 guard ages ago and although it was really thick I reckon the bolt holes were recessed and I used standard bolts.

Re: Re: It's ace isn't it. Still undecided what to do with it. I reckon a set of 10" wheelbarrow wheels with 3" tyres might squeeze in. If I can figure a way to correct the hub spacing and fit a freewheel I might make it into a mini fat bike for the kids to mess about on.

    Bash guard/chainring bolts?

Re: Standard bolts designed for triple chainrings are fine. You are simply replacing the big ring with the bash guard. If you was going from a triple to a single ring without a bash you would need shorter bolts.

Re: The postie dropped of some NOS goodies earlier. The forks are a little rough after god knows how many years rattling around a warehouse but I'm building the bike to be ridden, not a garage queen so I'm not too fussed. I also picked up these cranks. They are brand new but a few years old...
