for those who were worrying about how this sad tale might turn out, :wink: i had a go at sanding the area at the weekend, and after a few seconds the 'crack' completely disappeared. it seems that it was a surface flaw after all - phew! Many thanks to all who replied!

Thanks for that - yes it is a bit odd - it's a tinny wiggly line like a thread. it doesn't start anywhere near the hole, and there's nothing behind it - it's like a flaw rather than a crack. There is a kit to test cracks (as an earlier poster helpfully told me), but it's about £50, so I was...

pants! Slim Joe's Clark Kent should lessen the pain though!

Hi there, I'm stripping an Ellsworth Joker, and once I'd got to the bare aluminium of the rear triangle, I have found a very tiny line about 3-4mm long, running along the inside edge of a weld. It doesn't look very deep and it isn't a rip, it's just a short line, less than a hair's breadth...

Hi there, I've seen a few Nuke Proof Reactors on ebay. Apart from the weird headtube, were these well engineered, or were they just cheap frames as Nuke Proof went downhill? Jim

Has anyone tried a pair of these? I'm sure i'd heard that they're so light and flexy that they're a bit scary?
