Father & Son Claud Butler quicky sideshow project

Looks lovely, just one thing I'm wondering but would White hoods look better? I think brown ones might look too brown if that makes sense.

So after some more cleaning and sorting I've found the stamps on the bars are for sakae Road champion bars, I can only find these in drop versions so unless someone with more knowledge than me knows any different I think the previous owner has doctored his bars. Would be good to put road bars...

Excellent work by the two of you. Looks smart. Im sure one day you'll be allowed to make it more racy. I'm sure it will be received very well. Now to keep it hidden until the big day.

Just got home and popped out, had a cursery glance at rear end and can't find a date on the rear mech (although don't really know where I should be looking). Only stamp I can find is the one on the BB pictured. One thing I can see which I'll need to sort out(I think) is the rear wheel is set...

Cheers guys, I'll check out the rear mech when I get chance for a date stamp. Yeah it needs some drops, will have a look for some big ones, I wonder about the current ones as having done some digging about the history of this bike I think it's been in the state it is in for some considerable...

25" apparently although I've not had the tape out to measure it yet. It arrived yesterday and I've so far managed to slacken up the seat tube and saddle, gonna play at getting it to fit me next week. Then I'm going to crack on with sorting the rust on the frame before tackling the gears.

Cheers Keith, I agree with your summary of the bike, it's nothing special but it's cost me virtually nothing. I've now decided I think what I want to do. I'm going to try and restore it to working order to use as a summer commuter bike and use it as a practice bike to remove rust etc and tidy up...

So today Elsie the Elswick (yes its been named) arrived at home. She's an Elswick turbo 12 in brown, think late 70s or early 80s. I've been flip flopping about with ideas of what to do but basically it's going to be used for a commuter during the better weather for a bit of fun and a change...

    Bike ID help please

Cheers guys, I'm not looking to make money off it or anything, it's just road cycling to work on my mtb is getting a bit boring and the frames a bit small. This one is a bigger frame so should fit me better and should liven up my commute by swapping and changing bikes. It's costing me buttons if...

Thanks for the advice, so some cheap and cheerful ally or steel rims probably 700c I'm guessing, treat the rust, new bar tape, polish anything metal, decide what single speed to put on it. I might even debadge it and get a better colour on the frame. Any thoughts?

So nothing special but a functional bike. I'm looking at using it as a commuting bike and want something sturdy that isn't going to worry about getting knocked about a bit. I may in the future look at making it single speed.
