Spreading the cause, prepared for the flak... e-bikes

OK, so slag me off... I am prepared :P I'd have done the same to myself a few years ago, but now I am a convert I want to convert others. What am I rambling on about...electric bike conversions...that is what I am talking of. Now I am not talking of 'DVLA approved' 15mph granny...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Wonder why they did that...strength issues frame failures with the alloys? No matter, I'll see what bits this other frame has on it..i might be able to cut and weld some of the old suspension parts from the broken one...and if my experiment fails, I'll still have the original parts if I screw...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Steel...what the complete frame? I missed that part of your post...this must be '4' then..defo an alloy frame.

    And today I did......

Today I can not find a suspension bush, rubber or elastomer mount, drive coupling or anything off of any machine, either agricultrual, plant or industrial workshop, that I can suitably bodge to make and elastomer bush for my GT-LTS 4 rear suspension... so looks like I may have to bite the...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

That would be great if you could..even if knackered. as long as it was original, I'd then at least know how it was meant to look. and have a spare to tinker with. Would also show me where all the little washers go..my mate took mine apart. Still not sure if all the bits are there..that could...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Re: Yes, it does seem too short..hence the thought, at least for now, of getting some spacers in there. hat is why I put that pic in there to show that...that is partially where, what I was calling sag' came from. The bike slumps (sags) down from it highest position I have sent the...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Ah well, in that case I am using the wrong term. So there is not a lot of 'sag' just a lot of settle as the 'slack' in the suspension fitting etc is taken up before it becomes active..in relation to its highest position.. ...neither of the last two scenarios either but not as light as I...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Sorry, took none today ..I left the workshop in a bad mood. All I have is pics that i have posted before where no one could give me any more info. On the initial thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=292560&p=2190104#p2190104, it was thought that it was a LT3..but the shock now makes me think...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

I have asked on here before, but no one can tell me if I have a GT LTS 3 or 5...was there ever a GT LTS 4 ? I thought it was a 3, but a video I saw on you tube showing a '5' elastomer strip down, show the elastomer shock unit I have. I have the shock in this video...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Well ..no idea about the correct ness of the elastomer..it was sold as a GT LTS elastomer. It is maybe to soft too , when i sit on the bike the suspension nearly bottoms out. only maybe ½ inch travel left. As you say, making up a spacer may reduce travel at other end...but no way of knowing...

    Unloaded rear suspension sag?

Never having had a rear sus bike, I have no idea... This is an old GT LTS with polymer elastomer rear unit, old elastomer was shagged, so got another ..but non original part. As i fit it up now, there is maybe 2 inch of sag when the bike sits on its own. I have spent since maybe 10 this...

Calculate your spoke length ? Casio Programable calculator?

At least you will be able to go back if you don't grind first I guess. I have found in the past on commercially built and cut spokes, up to 1 - 1.5 mm or more difference in spoke lengths any way..so at least grade them as you take them out the original wheel.

Anyone NOW own a GT LTS 3/5 or pics of rear elastomer

I got my LTS from a mate..with rear damper stripped. I got a new rear elastomer and fitted it up but with left over bits. It sits very low and there is 2 inch sag even with no one on the bike..and with my 80 kilo on it, it leaves about ½ inch travel . I have an alloy spacer tube left over...

Calculate your spoke length ? Casio Programable calculator?

A gentle trim/grind of the ends of the drive side spokes ...should be perfect.
