    Crash...

By the way... there was no crash... he just stood up on his pedals to climb and the front separated.

    Crash...

Older isn't always better.... The owner of this bike decided that it was a good idea to take a 20+ year old carbon fiber french-made bike that's known for catastrophic failure on a 160 mile bike tour. He guy holding the bike is a ride-support mechanic. The owner was taken away in an ambulance...

    Ridgeback Titanium MTB circa 1992

You should be able to look at the drop-outs, BB shell and (most importantly) welds. Merlins give themselves away pretty easily.

Some thing about the titanium frames

I had to chuckle a little bit at the posting left by the original poster. I have been in this business for 14 years, visited (repeatedly) Merlin Metalworks (when they were in Cambridge), Seven Cycles, Serotta and Independent Fabrications. They charge a very fair price, even with the recent price...

Man who had sex with bike in court

Perhaps it was a misunderstanding... Which one of us hasn't wrenched on a bike while naked. You know, just a little tweak here and there while on the way to the bedroom. Or simply during Naked Day. And I don't know about you, but I'm sure that I've gotten a little too excited while wrenching...

    Tips on riding downhill

I don't know what it's like on your side of the pond, but I just taught my non-cycling wife and brother-in-law to downhill this way: I took her to a ski area (Killington) that has a lot of fire roads. (They were both on hard tails, by the way, with suspension forks. The fire roads are key...

    Bike shops in New york

You know what's a good idea... calling people that ride their bikes on weekends posers. That's a great way to build a cycling community. Genius! What posers they must be for finding SOME place to ride in a congested city! What a$$holes they must be for being able to buy and appreciate nice...

    Bike shops in New york

I don't know off the top of my head, but I think the GT's were somewhere in the $500 range. He's got two, both about 16", one with a rigid fork and one with a Quadra 21R. Another cool one that's hanging out is a 1997 GT/Dyno Moto 7. It's their cruiser frame with mtb geometry, horizontal...

    Bike shops in New york

I don't own a shop in NY, I rep in NJ. Actually, I'm not a good source for NYC shop info, but if you'd like to cross the river... what kind of a shop are you looking for? If you want a super-high end road shop with Orbea, Pinarello, Colnago as the primary brands that's Strictly Bikes in Ft...

    But why a Retro Bike?...

Sorry to chime in so late in the thread but... I was buying new bike every year, always chasing the latest and the greatest and this got old. So I started with retro road bikes and decided to start collecting stuff that I always wanted when I was growing up. The best reason now is that I'm...
