    E BAY FRUSTRATION !!!!

whichever method you use, I suppose mines a manual version of sniper or whatever, you usually find that being out bid is a usual occurance if have a reaslistic opinion of price. Retro bits can be harder to guage, but well current stuff.... I have been sourcing gears and other parts for a mates...

    BB Removal

easier with the correct tools. I've got some Campag bottom bracket and headset spanners that are joy to use on older stye bottom brackets. Depends if you are going to refit a retro bottom bracket or replace with a newer splined one I suppose.

    E BAY FRUSTRATION !!!!

i'm lucky enough to have quick broadband so I usually bid in the last few seconds, if I win great, if I lose, then at least I don't get sucked into paying more than I wanted. Have lost many an auction with this method, but something usually comes along a week later.

    What pedals ??

if you are happy sticking to clips and straps then feel free to, nothing wrong with them at all. One of my fleet of bikes has them, like clipless I don't find it a problem getting in amd out of them, plus whatever you use it's good for practicing your track stands at the lights right?

    Do you bike commute ?

Work at home at the mo, but on day off, get to ride with kids to school, so that's 4 journeys for me (there and back home in morning and afternoon). Used to ride to work everyday until some *osser pinched by SBDU Raleigh that was demoted to training and general riding around bike. Then moved...

    What pedals ??

before this goes further, it might be best for Gordy to update on what and how long the commute and training runs are. If I were adding something to an Alan, it might not be double sided pedals, but without knowing how many traffic lights, roundabouts etc are to be encountered, it's hard to...

SPD set up after knee surgery?

+1 for the time pedals, I had same kind of knee ache when using spds, I got some Time road pedals coz they were going cheap and I went on the assumption if they were good I'd use them on my road bikes. Knee pain gone as Time have more 'float' than Look or Shimano. There are others that give...

    853 vrs 753

So how do the 2 tubeset compare, is 853 a later replacement for 753 or a tubeset for a different purpose as I see more than just road frames built from it.

    What pedals ??

Trouble is, last time I rode on SPDs they didn't give much float and gave me knee pain, hence why I got Time pedals. I see your point about the double sided thing, but I can ride with foot on the wrong side of the time pedals if you really have to, but one of the great things about Time is that...

Who the heck would do this......why???????

i'd say it is a marriage split or similiar, perhaps looks like the wife is selling something that belonged to her ex, that she knows little about, except that it cost a fair few quid when it was new, hence the high asking price

    Carlton Pro Am -wheel query

Its not really a tourer as there are no mudguard eyes for starters, also I don't remember them having centre pulls, but I may be wrong. I had a carlton criterium in fern green that had centre pulls, so perhaps carlton were keen on them.

    What pedals ??

i use Time pedals, as they give you a fair amount of 'float' giving your knees chance to move and avoid pain. I find them easy to get in and out of, in fact easier than Look or Shimano pedals. If you have never ridden in clipless pedals then you may find them difficult at first, but I find...

    Why would?

maybee however has put the different wheels on didn't know the difference in wheel sizes, or could not get say a 27inch replacement. A friend of mine picked up a 27in Wheel bike (minus the front wheel) from the scrappy and not knowing any better also picked up a 700c front wheel. So it does...

Raleigh Professional 1984 Team Panasonic SB7197 Finished

Rolls gets my vote, basically coz I find them the most comfortable, I've had all the old favs like Turbos, Tornados and Concor profile etc but ended my search for a comfy saddle when the Rolls became available.

    no2, raleigh europa team 1980

looks pretty original to me for an 80's version. Looks like the gear levers are on the wrong sides, ie the left is on the right and so on. Always good to see an old gem, please don't turn it into a fixie.

The finishing touches - advice required

Having thought a little more about this, if your bike is to be used, then I'd go for Dura Ace 7400 transmission and brakes as it works well. Bars and stem either 3TTT or Cinelli whatever you can get at a reasonable price. My fav saddle is San Marco Rolls after having turbos, tornados and all...

The finishing touches - advice required

Hi have been emailed some replies from the team pros forum, but have already deleted them. Re the wheels, I ride on 28 spoke open 4cd, with a mavic 501 hub on the front and an ultegra cassette hub on the rear with some cheap tyres from Spa cycles that were on offer for £6 and it still rides...
