    '91 Cannondale's first outing.....

Yeah, I need a cable for the front, didn't want to chop up a perfectly good rear length! I also need a stem that takes a canti brake set up, as I don't want to use a V caliper.

Show us what you did today, thread

Went for a wee spin. Built it up from scratch on friday night, and today I donned my tight gear and took it out. It weighs in at a lovely 11.8kg and I have to say its an absolute joy to ride, real flying machine. :D Single chainring and single canti brake, haven't tried that in the wet yet...

    '91 Cannondale's first outing.....

Well, in my possession anyway..... :D Built it up from scratch on friday night, and today she made her debut on the road. As you can see its veering towards a commutery type ride. It weighs in at 11.8kg and I have to say its an absolute joy to ride, real flying machine. :D Single chainring...

1991 Cannondale SM700 - Black with Lime Splatter

:D Nice, I've got a M400 from the same era, looks very similar in frame and spec actually....... mine is in slightly less original condition though. I'm going down the retro commutery type route, using mostly (well, all really!) Shimano stuff, as era-matched as I can find on my...

    5 LEG CHAINRING 110mm BCD - 40 to 46 tooth - SORTED

Hi guys, thanks for all the offers.... :D Ackers - I'm kinda intent on fitting a single big ring, and 48 is a bit bigger than I'd like. I don't think my chain would be long enough anyway, but thanks. My Teenage self and azaro, I've PMed you.

    5 LEG CHAINRING 110mm BCD - 40 to 46 tooth - SORTED

Shimano prefered, but any brand considered. Not too worn, heavy or expensive. I'm just looking for a single big ring, but a set of 2 or 3 would be considered. Thanks

    Suntour/Shimano compatability

Thanks guys, I have a Shimano mech I can use, its just that the Suntour one would have been preferable because it looks better, and is of course original. I'll probably have a look for another Suntour shifter.

    Suntour/Shimano compatability

I'm bringing a '91 Cannondale back to life, and I'm trying to salvage as many of the original parts as possible because I'm on a tight budget. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... light=m400 I've cleaned and re-jockey wheeled the original Suntour rear mech, but the shifter is shot. I...

    1990-ish Cannondale M400 (I think)

Fitted the brake/shifter combo and rear caliper last night, looks and feels good. I had a quick try at polishing the frame using a scotchbrite pad and then some Meguiars metal polish and it came up absolutely stunning! I'd like to try and retain this finsh with minimum effort without using...

    1990-ish Cannondale M400 (I think)

Budgets doing well, £43 so far on some Canti brakes, a Deore crank and a 7 speed Shimano shifter and integrated brake lever. Oh, and a set of white decals..... I feel I might want some pedals to fit the retro theme, and errr..... some more budget! :D

    1990-ish Cannondale M400 (I think)

Ok, just found the vintage Cannondale site. Seems it a 20" frame built in 08/91? :D Nice one, so much info with just the serial number! 8)

    1990-ish Cannondale M400 (I think)

Serial number is 52008913686 I'm compiling a wee list of bits I need, biggest need is a BB I think, it seems to me, looking at the chainline, the axle is too long. I'm also going to fit a set of cantilever brakes, as it had originally. That should easily take care of a large chunk of my...

    1990-ish Cannondale M400 (I think)

"Its a Cannondale" was the answer to my "what is it then?" when my mate gave me this for nowt. He was going to restore it, but he just doesn't have the knowledge or time to do so..... my gain! He did have the time in the past to raw the frame and paint the Tange fork though. I'm going...
