Thanks coomber for the vote of confidence!
I love my Muni Mula in bare alu but it's a pig to keep it shiny though. It was also a really long sanding and polishing job to get it into a reasonably decent condition.
Go for it madmax if you don't mind the graft and Nitro Mors is the way to go...
I've got my eye on an identical one which belongs to a friend of ours. It was her daughters bitd and is just sitting in a garden shed neglected! Same spec as yours 8)
Will keep watching to see how this takes shape.
Mike from Merlin Cycles returned my email earlier today. Here's what he said.
"Steve,
It is something that we sold a few years back. These were just standard 7005 alu frames badged up with merlin stickers.
I think the frames were on sale for approx £50 or so.
Regards Mike."
So that...
I've sent an email with pics to Merlin so i'm interested to see what, if anything, comes back!
Didn,t expect this to turn into a discussion on the merits, or otherwise, of mass produced Taiwanese frames though. :o
Decided to wait until this AM to reply to the above comments.
The reason - a feeling of annoyance (to say the least) at the harsh statement from the above forum member ref my bike. Ok, it's a bag of bo**ocks right now and who knows, it may stay that way! It's also not very exotic but that's...
I'd gladly swap mate but it's 110mm i'm afraid. It's marked 90:11 if that means much.
There are the usual marks due to fitting and the stem bolt is a bit rusty. Also a small nick out of the black paint on the right side of the neck of the stem. Otherwise its in pretty good order. Let me know...
Oh oh!
Think you may be right. Does it look a bit like a Cape Wrath? Do they have those wiggly seat stays though? The guy who sold it to me was pretty genuine and I can't see why he would have stuck some Merlin stickers on. Perhaps he bought it genuinely believing it to be a Merlin!
That...
Now you've got me thinking! I've therefore changed the thread title to something more appropriate!
The rear end looks like a Malt 4 with those curvy stays but don't know about the rest. I will take a few more pics of the drop outs etc which might help id it. Also there is a number stamped on...
Thanks for the feedback folks! Mid 90s ties in to the info provided by the seller.
Day off today so decided to take a long hard look at the bike and think about stripping it back to basics. Crap weather + wife at work + kids at school meant that the kitchen became a temp workshop for the...
Hello all.
Pete Matthews road bike
Just thought that i'd post some pics of a very recent purchase and ask for some help and advice! I'm a bit in the dark when it comes to road bikes so not really sure how to proceed. Any comments gratefully received people.
Picked this Pete Matthews...
Hi all.
It's been quite a while since I posted anything on the forums although I read avidly every day. Due to a lack of funds, a spot of illness and the kids occupying most of my spare time during the summer, bike building had to take a back seat!
I have a few potential projects on the...
Just want to thank Guy, aka red_riviera, for the speedy loan of some Cannondale tools.
That's what this whole Retro Bike thing is all about 8) 8) 8)
I will post some pics of the strip down in case anyone may find them useful (or funny  ).
Steve.
Like the blue Nick but also like the idea of yellow! But I think i'll keep it polished alu. Cannondale only made this 96 version in bare metal according to the catalogue so that's the way I think. Its also easier and cheaper
Thanks red for the offer. Will pm you matey. Cheers. What a...
