1936 Rollfast Rat Rod Survivor Build

Re: So I finally managed to sort out the head tube. I had to buy two sealed bearings that went into the head tube, then used the existing two aswell, so it has four bearings. I still need to add a slim spacer as there is minute wobble. I still need to get a skip tooth crank and chain, pedals...

1936 Rollfast Rat Rod Survivor Build

Re: Just a quick update. I've had a problem making the head tube fit the secret forks. The problem was so annoying, that after cut knuckles and a sore lower back, I kinda brutally tried to resolve it, I might have messed up. I'll take some pics on the weekend and show the latest state of the build.

Nothing like these over here. They are called 'drop centers', I paid around £80 once all duties and transport was done so not too bad.

    barracuda cruiser "ebay cheap frame"

Re: Resurrecting this thread with a new build. I took my Barracuda Tia 20" and used components from a donor Pro-Flex from ebay, which in its day was £1800 ( I got for £112) I removed the paint from the Girvin forks, I put them back on the 'wrong way' and they work and look better, I love the...

You are right, the nitromors is useless, I have already slopped on three coats and it's hardly done anything, I have tooth pastes stronger than this rubbish

New Build Cannondale SM500 & Girvin forks

Re: Re: A NOS set arrived today, I was gutted to pay£28 for them, I was going to just put on some generic ones but I couldn't bring myself to do that, it would have bugged me. But £28 was painful simply because the frame inc delivery was £50, but as Robert De Niro would say 'whatchagonnadoo?'

Not sure what'll happen to the pro-flex yet (it's got a dent in the top tube not that that bothers me, I bought it for the forks)

New Build Cannondale SM500 & Girvin forks

Re: Re: They look just as good as I thought they would. Why d'you need a lathe for the sm400? I thought the older Vectors had a 1" steerer? apparently it's only the newer generation vectors that have a 1 & 1/8

Re: Frame arrived, I peeled off the gross incorrect stickers and then put a NOS roller cam on. Already it's gorgeous. I am going to use some RM20 Araya wheels that came of a Cannondale SM800.
