The end is no longer nigh: Kona Bikes

got a dealer video message from Mount Green (Kona UK) as a dealer i'm supposed to be tight lipped but basically Kona UK is still going to being going, it's more of a global issue. also i think the publicity has come out so mentioning that it's continuing should be ok "kent outdoors are pulling...

    Attaching Di2 to Weinmann levers

well, Di2 does have sprint shifter controls that could be adapted but most of the Di2 stuff is designed to be internally cabled up, the battery for example sits inside the seatpost, meaning the cable connects to a junction box inside the bottom of the seat tube then comes out of the back of the...

the Arnham mountain bike museum, anyone fancy a trip over there?

hey Mel, i assumed you had been there! which would be the best airport to fly in to? i looked at driving but the cost of the ferry regardless of which port is very expensive, and it would be 3 to 4 hours driving here, then 4 to 5 hours from Calais or a couple from Hook of Holland so i think...

the Arnham mountain bike museum, anyone fancy a trip over there?

several years ago i met Jeroen at the Old World Mountain Bike Champs, think it was 2009, he turned up with a van full of amazing bikes in Bergen, someone asked how many bikes he had and i think he said 300ish, cut to a few years later and i'd heard he'd finally started his dream of a museum...

Dave Yates Vulcan prototype, live the dream.

that frame you have looks really nice, paint is cool, fat creations would be a good option but Ali is expensive, i think justifiably but better value might be Blue Whippet Paintworks, aka Jason Rourke, they did my F.moser, my Kila-Honzo, and 3 Kona's for my buddy dave.

Wanted Sintesi Bazooka Rear Dropout 98/99

hmm . . . i just checked gear mech hanger, and wheels manufacturing, niether have any thing like that, there are a couple that are similar that might be able to be modified but you'd be taking a risk that they might do the job, i also checked one of my trade suppliers for generic hangers, they...

Wanted Sintesi Bazooka Rear Dropout 98/99

i just had a look online to see what threy look like, i had a sintesi back in the day, the hanger looks relatively generic, post a pic of your frame, close up on the drop out area if you haven't got the actual hanger or maybe a pic of the hanger you have, even if it's damaged and maybe we can...

love or hate it, Kona Kila-Honzo update 04/04/24 shiny stuff added!

wasn't expecting new wheels today but they came in so i couldn't resist putting them, straight in! i have liked Industry Nine wheels for a while, i usually run Hope wheels, but i fancied a change! they appeal to the magpie in me that likes all things bling! these are a custom set, silver hydra...

    Offroad Proflex 752 build

had a bit more of a play with the Proflex, i wasn't happy with the DX STI units, clunky is how i'd describe them, i had a pair of thumbshifters and my buddy Dave karma'd me a set of brake levers, so as it was quiet today in the shop i decided to get this done, i should point out that it was only...

love or hate it, Kona Kila-Honzo update 04/04/24 shiny stuff added!

so the last 2 weekends i have ridden the KilaHonzo, i'd made some changes, i fitted the magura dropper post, obvs it's wireless so nice and neat, decided also to try an ergon saddle, the main rides i do on this bike are in the New Forest, not particularly techy trails so i find myself sat alot...

Cheapest way to post frame from NZ from UK?

having lived in NZ and posted stuff to and from, it always costs a fortune, if you want the item that badly you might just have to pay. the cheapest option would be sea frieight, but it takes ages. not sure who you would go to to sort that, a kiwi mate that lived in the alps asked me to bring a...

so i started a bike shop. update 31/07/24

@grahame i have got some but not 36t, i just checked on the suppliers website and i can't see them listed, biggest i can see is 34t, and there are 2 offsets, 3mm and 6mm, if you want that size i'd go for a Pilo ring from Gearmechhanger. i checked and they do list that size.

so i started a bike shop. update 31/07/24

@brocklanders023 actually i just realised you meant the new "Aluminium O" not my old Clockwork! technically it is for sale, but i'm not fussed if it doesn't sell, i may have it for myself at some point. @27motorhead the kiwi flag is because i used to live in Wellington, the Welsh flag because i...

so i started a bike shop. update 31/07/24

@brocklanders023 no, i haven't ridden it in ages and i saw some stuff about converting older bikes in gravel bikes, it turns out the 2007 clockwork might be spot on for a conversion, i'm in the process of building some wheels for it, gonna put 700x38 tyres if they fit the rear end, 35mm defo...

First taste of the forbidden fruit - Clubby’s Orange P7 29-EJ

for some reason i don't think your pics do the colour justice, i was so pleased when Orange did this colour, i've been sick of their matt or satin finishes the last few years, this red in the flesh is awesome, i have a P7 and i think it's my nicest riding bike, never cared about the weight, just...
