Where did you take your retro ride last for a proper ride?

Ha, thanks! I was about 2 hours into the ride at that point. One of the trails that I rode was this one, but admittedly not quiet as fast! http://www.pinkbike.com/news/sid-sloteg ... -2014.html Although funnily enough they were filming this as I rode past them.

new here just picked up a nice old bike

Another East Van man here. I'd have bought it for the fork if I'd seen the advert! Plenty of people spend half their lives searching CL so I'm surprised it lasted as long as 2 hours. I've been known to hit 'refresh' having something I like pop up, email the poster immediately only to find that...

Battaglin Giro, found in a skip

If it was pulled out of a dumpster in Vancouver it would mean that it's been stolen! Might be worth doing a token CL ad to see if someone has lost an Italian road bike? Either way, it's an awesome find!

    Neo-retro MTBs - let's see 'em

I guess my 1992 RMB Vertex could unkindly be described as a mutt now  Here it is on a 3 hour ride around Squamish BC the other day. It's got stuff from the late 80's through to modern, including Chromag risers, Tiagra short cage rear mech, Exotic carbon fork, modern XT V brakes etc...

    1991 Bridgstone MB-0 ($$$)

If the bike is so amazing, why has the original owner only taken it off-road 3-4 times in the last 22 years? I remember these from BITD, and appreciated the approach to spec'ing parts, but even in 1991 they seemed old fashioned. I guess that's part of the appeal for some.

    Kelly Mountain Bike

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pml/b ... 26619.html This seems to have been advertised forever and the price keeps going up and down. I'm surprised that it hasn't sold as looking on the old Kelly website, the geometry seems surprisingly modern (long top with a short seat tube. I'm 6' tall...

Vancouver members - medium 87 Yeti FRO for trade.

Damn, a unicorn.... I wonder if he'd want a wife or a dog  I imagine my Vertex probably isn't quite 'cool' enough, but I also imagine that I'd end up hating the way the Yeti rode and my childhood dreams would be dashed. A bit like buying a Pontiac Firebird.....

    YETI FRO Jhon T. Tribute

Looking good. Re. the bars, history has shown that the above set up is no more stupid than running a 150mm zero rise stem with a 20" flat bar

Play in Klein Mantra rear end

This is going back to 2008 now, but when a customer had worn out bushings in his Palamino he came to the shop that I worked at because we were a Trek dealer. Our rep got a set sent to the shop and I installed it all.

What would make you turn up at a Retrobike event? Road/MTB

Re: What would make you turn up at a Retrobike event? Road/ Geography is largely what stops me, living in Vancouver these days  If I still lived in Shropshire I'd have been all over the Long Mynd ride coming up as that's where I spent most of my time riding retro bikes when they were...

    Specialized Hardpack 1.5"..........getting desperate now

My hands and ass still ache from using those things as race tyres on the more 'field' based courses circa 1990. good luck with the search!

Suspension corrected or not? Telling frames apart ....

Bottom bracket heights on older bikes tended to be around 11.5". If you put a longer fork on it and the BB height goes much higher than 12" then the bike will start to feel a bit giraffe like and not so good in the corners. My 1992 RMB Vertex should have a BB height of 11.5 but it's now jacked...

Who is the U.K equivilent of FAT City Cycles?

I can't help but see the irony of someone bigging up US 'frame houses', and names himself after a company who's bikes in the late 80's had horribly outdated geometry, a frame design cunningly fabricated to hold as much mud as possible, and generally broke :D
