    Kona Haole Ti

I picked up a longer (Easton) stem and Cinelli bar to increased the reach a bit. Today I was wishing for a compact crankset! Regarding flex, I seem to be doing everything in my power to make the bike as 'noodly' as possible  Even the Cinelli Nirve bar is super flexy. Still, it makes for...

Where are they now? Is somebody going to write this article

Re: Re: Watch any World DH race and you'll see (or hear....) Peaty and Warner. Missy can't exactly go to far from home at the moment due to driving around with bails of weed in her vehicle.... Do you not know what happened to JMC?

McMahon MRC Ti - Rear upper U-Brake Titanium... yummy!

Sweet frame! I used to lust over MRC stuff BITD. Here is an awesome example: http://www.vintagemtbworkshop.com/1992- ... m-cnc.html

    Rang my LBS today

Re: And what percentage of cyclists are trials riders? It's approx 0% around here. Re. BMX. Most don't run brakes at all!

    Rang my LBS today

Just because they are still made doesn't mean that they have any relevance to typical LBS business any more. To play Devils Advocate, the 'YTS lad' might be a DH champion and can tell you the oil weights of a DVO Emerald fork without looking it up, or anything else regarding cutting edge...

    Rang my LBS today

I run a workshop that does around 900 repairs a month during the busy season, yet we probably only see HS series brakes 3 or 4 times a year (usually on some weird German hybrid ;-) ) so it's maybe not surprising that not everyone knows what they are any more. We don't stock Manitou elastomers...

do they think we're dumb? well i suppose they do.

90% of my riding involves riding up gravel roads and then down pretty gnarly descents that need ground clearance and not much in the way of pedalling. So for me, 1x10 with a 30t NW ring and no bash guard or chain guide is awesome. I've not dropped a chain since I installed the set-up and if I...

Bontrager Road Lite - Original or Modern

There's obviously nothing 'wrong' with putting Campy on a Bontrager but it seems a bit weird to me. I can't help but think that the latest cable DA would be more complimentary in that it has the same mix of old world and new world technology that Bontrager frames had.

Best production Hardtail of the 1990's?

^Funnily enough I was scrolling through this thinking the same thing. There's been a million California fireroad geometry frames out there, but the Metalhead did break the mold somewhat and allow people to hit some gnarly trails without the frames cracking (which is more than can be said for my...

Resource overload / fairplay in BOTM

This all reminds me of why I never look at BOTM  With regards to businesses like TPC, I respect the fact that they make the bikes visible to the outside world, and if that means being entered in competitions, then great. Too many bikes end up in huge personal collections / hoards and...

Toxik Harald's Annual Cruiser Ride and Bike Show 2014

I originally planned to ride there, but for fairly obvious reasons bailed! I did literally did do a drive-by with my impatient dog though and it was good to put faces to some names and see some awesome bikes. I'm sure others will have some better pics, but here's a few that I took before...

    1988 Brodie Climbmax Fillet Brazed

Rad find! One day I'll finally own a fillet brazed frame :D The down tube cable guide is in the perfect (and normal) location for a chainstay mounted U-brake. Maybe during the frame's life it's had the brake location moved. Not sure why there's no top tube cable guides though! Weird....

Did they make sealed cartridge bb's in the 80's?

I used to use FAG (heh...) bottom brackets a lot BITD. They always lasted much longer than the loose ball ones that were around circa 1990. I assume that the FAG ones had cartridge bearings as they were a big plastic unit IIRC.

    it's postage... AND PACKING!!!

I've no idea what the OP charges for posting and PACKAGING but I never ship anything. Most of the stuff I sell isn't worth a great deal and I'd rather sell for less than it's 'worth' than throw it out to a worldwide audience, and deal with packaging something up and taking it to a post office...

    HELP! Diagnose my Bomber Z.4

The oil weight will affect the rebound as well as compression which is why the fork springs back slower. Do you have the correct oil height? Might just need topping up.
