FFS won't someone buy this? I really would have bought it by now for parts but seeing as it was Antwack's original intention to do this and wanted the bike saved as a whole it'd be kinda unfair.
Heathen! :D
@bikeworkshop the originals are still going strong 35+ years later on my Escaper, and that's with me faffing about dropping the straddle hangers down too so at least 2 different "squish" points ;) If I ever retire them for new, I may give them a new lease of life as winch cable for...
Tried a modern (2020) Syncros number a while back, expecting great things with how far ergonomic/anatomic studies have had a chance to evolve. Bloody awful, might've been OK on a road bike but the thing gave me chaffage like nothing else...
Looks better than the tatty worn out one with Drop off T's we looked at a while ago in Manchester, he's after £230 and wouldn't move below 220 even after we (politely) pointed out the damage to the stanchion & huge ding in the downtube. Still held firm even after we (slightly less politely)...
@Guinessisgoodforyou you have some I can have gratis as well then? :D
They look cool IMO and good enough for light trail riding. Wouldn't find them on my LTS obvs. but I'd slap a set in the Base bikes or other urban/light trail machines in a heartbeat.
Always move forward, going straight will get you nowhere....
Also @benjabbi, kermit et al, you can karma me all your snowflake wheels when you run across them. I won't complain.
Screw on 8spd PLUS QR for added fragility....
Maybe make it a full sus based on an elastomer LTS5000 (although you'd lose the ally frame you'd gain a UV exposed yellow elastomer) and perhaps throw in a DIY bodged main pivot bush with electrical tape/cardboard etc?
Yellow & blue Hammerite paint...
Astronomic prices & TY22 (ETA-: I forgot gripshit even existed for a blissful moment there. avoid that like the plague too, maybe even more than the plague)
Anything else is pretty much fair game, even rust.
