How much float should there be?

I have more rings so i will give those a try if swapping the chain doesn't work. The cassette is m737 and the rings are dx sg rings. Will these work together or do I need different rings? Thanks for the pointers, I will check al the stuff suggested.

OK, I have been out on my alpinestars build and i'm getting chain skip under load. I have checked the gear shifting and its spot on. I checked the rings and rear sprocket and they look ok too, not much wear at all. Chain length is fine but i'm wondering if it's compatible. Could this be the...

Thanks for the comments. It's been great to build a memory from the past and give it an upgrade with the 8 speed and v brakes. It looks to be a bike that I can get to use a lot as well now as the days are getting longer.

It's been a long wait for the milder temperatures but today was the day for spraying the yellow. The fluro yellow is not good at covering. It seems more like a tinted clearcoat than paint. Built up some layers and it's not too bad. The yellow dried to a matt finish so I would guess that...
