    Wagon Wheels Genesis More tweaks.

Re: Been using the Genesis a lot recently. Went for a ride on the South Downs yesterday, the gearing seemed just right and the bike was v comfy for the 3 hours. The ground was pretty dry due to the strong (cold :( ) wind I guess, bike was still dirty from a Sussex Weald swamp fest on...

Wagon Wheels , Just an Inbred now!

Re: Well I have never messed with bikes so much over such a short period! Didn't take the Orange on holiday for various reasons but did hire a couple of 29er Specialized which just felt right. A major irritant on the Orange was that the rear drop outs were not vertical, so occasionally the...

Re: 10 speed now! Second hand SLX shifter, new but missing bits XT rear mech and new XT chain and cassette, plus a OneUp 42t rear cog. I was going to go with the Hope but like the idea of the OneUp 16t cog to close up the gaps so went with that, v please too, thought they were American and...

    My First Mountain Bike

Hi All Found this pic of my Ridgeback S from way back. Not really by first, that was a Freeway Yeti with Sturmey hub brakes, but it fell apart in the first few months and the shop offered me a swop. First mortgage meant I needed a cheap commuter, the Ridgeback was a 7 day bike, monday to...

    Great big Singlespeed thread!

Re: Hi Makster That really is a superb bike you have built there. I have used the superstar SS conversion too, and also had some skipping issues, in the end I swopped around the spring so the tensioner pushed up and therefore the chain wrapped around the rear cog more, solved the problem...

    Great big Singlespeed thread!

Re: Part of my wholesale change to 29ers. Using a lot of parts from the Pipedream, very comfy although now the weather has changed the tyres may be interesting!

    The Book of Genesis..

Re: They are Recon's tweaked to 120mm from 100mm. Nothing dramatic but they work well for me, in fact removing the spacer has made a surprising improvement.

Re: Been out twice this weekend, yesterday was a gentle bimble largly road and a bit of off road just to make sure all was fine gearwise etc. Then today out in the swamp, why do I always to this when I have just finished a bike! Although TBH it is just what I have put this bike together for...

    Wagon Wheels Genesis More tweaks.

Re: The frame has bolt on cable guides......which didn't come with it, so I used Nukeproof P clips, except under the crud catcher where I used cable ties. Hmmmm, I'm pretty happy with the size, lots of post in the frame and nowhere near the max on the post, I also wanted it relatively short...

Re: Ta for the comments chaps. The tubing is Reynolds 520, made in the far east under license apparently. When I ride off road locally I very rarely use the granny ring on my 2 x 9 so hopefully the same with this one, but I think I will gasp a bit when I go to the North Downs.......and...

Re: All finished and very pleased. Been out on the road but biblical rain over night and now so probably no off road chistening today  Frame: Genesis High Latitude Fork: Rockshox Recon tweaked to 120mm travel Headset: Nukeproof Stem: Ragley Handlebar:Ragley Grips...

    Wagon Wheels Genesis More tweaks.

Re: Ta for the comments, I was just so pleased with how it looked I had to share it :D I have decided to standardize on 29er's (apart from the old Rockhopper) Prior to 29's I had a Ragley Blue Pig, and loved it, although it was a bit of a drag on the road bits that a ride around here...

New to me Wagon wheeled SS

Re: Thanks for the comments all. I know what you mean about WTB saddles, they don't look great, especially this one........it has done a lot of miles. But they seem to fit me and I have them on all three of my regular bikes now.

New to me Wagon wheeled SS

Re: Well, been on a couple of rides now, last one with a few out of the saddle climbs and all is very good, just a tweak of the grips to lower the bar endy bit, very untrendy I know but old wrists and rigid forks :-) Wheels and tyres work superbly, although the weather and ground conditions...

New to me Wagon wheeled SS

In my other threads I have bored people with my conversion to 29ers with a Clockwork plus my longterm affair with a Pipedream SS. Well I really like 29ers now and a Gary Fisher Rig frame came up at a good price, so sorry Pipedream, i need your bits :-( The frame was a bit scruffy but polished...
