Looking at some of our friends latest works a cold chisel and a pack of Airfix paints would be more appropriate.

Info on Condor 531 Reynolds Competition

I'd guess from the Reynolds stickers and components as an early/mid nineties model. A nice looking bike - I think it's more race orientated than touring with the choice of tubing, lack of mudguard braze ons and tight geometry on the back end. (Could you do something about the quick release on...

    Nice feature on the BBC

Another sign that steels coming back into fashion. Don't know where they get the few hundred pounds on average that cyclists spend on their bikes though ?

    Illegal Seat

I was just amazed at how much the seller wants for it. I hope crime pays well to recoup the cost.

What makes the bikes from different countries special?

I stand corrected - at least it's got the topic going ! IIRC Didn't Carlton experiment with some wierd and wonderful materials back in the 70's ?

    Road bikes with disc brakes

Mattr - Love it. You've hit the nail on the head in some respects. We get a plethera of mamils out around us bobbing around, sweating like rapists with there posh plastic bikes. One of the problems with carbon rims is there relative lack of stopping power which is one of the reasons for disc...

    Modern cross gearing question

Funny I thought modern Shimano MTB and road had the same cassette spacing and the only thing stopping you using a bigger cassette was the mech cage size. You learn something new every day about Japan's favourite fishing tackle maker.

    Modern cross gearing question

I would have thought you could get away with changing the rear mech for a long cage (GS) one looking at the spec here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=85966

    Tel's Stallion Cycle Shop Venture!

I remember a similar thing (on a grander scale) happening to the classic car market in the eighties. Eventually the bubble burst and weeded out the wide boys and rip off merchants who were inflating the market. I think that interest will always be there to a degree - I joke that bikes are for a...
