Trying yesterday to set up the front deraileur on my 1986/8 Marin Bear Valley & could I get it to work properly???? I can get the deraileur to change onto all 3 cogs whilst on the bike stand, but take it off the stand and try to change whilst riding & the thing will not change onto the...

1) Were these ever fitted as factory standard to early Marin Indian Fire Trail's? 2) Are they any good? They are certainly very light. ps: go easy on me as I've just taken delivery of a set!

Sunday about 5:45pm back home after a quick blast around Joyden's Wood. Sorry about the quick/dirty camara phone pic.......but you get the idea :D

Nearly came in on the Saracen but needed some air in the tyres so ended up comming in on the Specialized instead :(. Pump was in the shed at the bottom of the garden & at 05:25am I couldn't be bothered to go & get it.......maybe tomorrow then for the Saracen :D

Back from the midnight London to Brighton ride with the FNRttC, a few hours kip followed by sorting the brakes on the Bear Valley..... So we now have a saddle & some stopping power.........(my first U-brake).

Recently finished Giant Box Two......(not exactly origional, but I like it :D )

I think its to do with front end grip (bite) in the berms & corners. The larger diametre tyre afords better bite (turn in) thus enabling you to run a narrower (smaller tread pattern) tyre at the rear so making it faster rolling. You don't need as much grip on the back as the back will generally...

Thanks for the quick responses guys, but I'm talking about the actual wheel size & not the tyre size. I run a bigger grippyer front on my Trek Y3 with a narrower faster rolling tyre on the rear but the rims are the same size front and back......

Would there be any issue running a 26 x 1.50 wheel on the front of the bike with a 26 x 1.75 wheel on the back? Same manufacture of rim. I cant see any issue myself, just wondered if I was missing something obvious? The cassette is a 7 speed which will fit the bike........

Black Araya rear wheel needed for Marin Bear Valley Evening Bri957cc, I've just checked the front wheel off my '88 Bear Valley & its a black Araya rim 26x1.50 on an Exige Mountain hub. Let me know what you have once you have checked & we might be able to take it from there if it suits...

The Y3 is my main MTB ride, the Box Two I built for the Mrs. I think the Y3 is a great bike....
