Tour of Pen y Ghent tips please

Those photos make it look a lot brighter than I remember... We went about 2/3 the way round Pen y Ghent and I've still got no idea what the top of it actually looks like. On a nice dry day its probably a really nice ride, when its wet and you're struggling with a bad back it became a bit of a...

Tour of Pen y Ghent tips please

Yeah, that's the route. Basically starting at point 5 and going clockwise. Was hoping to hear that the boggy bit wouldn't be so bad at this time of year. The last few weeks lack of cycling is going to cost me dear.

Tour of Pen y Ghent tips please

Posted this in the Yorks section but was pointed over here. Planning to do the Tour of Pen y Ghent in a couple of weeks time. Got the route sorted and we're starting from Litton rather than Horton so just after a few pointers really as to what to expect.

    Pen-y-ghent area ride help please.

I need to find a not too difficult ride in the Pen-y-ghent area. Have found the 'tour of Pen-y-ghent' route online. Can anyone give me a bit of feedback about what the ride is like or offer up any alternatives? We'll be starting from Buckden so kind of top right of the route not from Horton.

    why is everyone against froome?

Yes, they've shown all off their live tv stuff online. Don't forget its an evening finish. Think ITV are showing full stage starting around 4:30.

    why is everyone against froome?

Living in Monaco it would be useful to know a bit of French. Wiggo also gave press conferences in French last year. Fully agree with this, he looks like Kermit the frog on a bike. Shame Sky have their zero tolerance to ex-dopers cos I'd be hiring David Millar to teach him how to look good on a...

Pro cycling chat and Road CC Fantasy Cycling thread 2013

Looking forward to seeing tomorrow evening how much effect having reflectors in his spokes and a set of lights will have on Cav's sprint.

    Team Sky's Defective Car

30km on a flat stage but its a lot less for a mountain finnish, 10km I think.

Lights Are So Cheap Now, So Why On Earth..?

Yeah, drunk, no lights, pulling out in front of traffic. Sure we'd all be very understanding if that was a car driver not a cyclist and we wonder why cyclists get a bad name sometimes.

motor bike licences: what do I need for an old 175?

 yeah, a lot further than the 20 miles I meant.

motor bike licences: what do I need for an old 175?

To me there should be a market for 125cc-395cc for commuting. If you live 200 odd miles away from work you don't really need anything massive but a 125cc is probably a bit underpowered if you're on A roads. But as you say with the current licencing it makes absolutely no sense build anything...

motor bike licences: what do I need for an old 175?

When did that all change again? Although thinking about it, its been a few years now since I passed my test but I thought they were just making the test harder rather than changing the classifications.

motor bike licences: what do I need for an old 175?

You don't have to do the direct access. Take your test on a 125cc and you'll get an A1 licence that restricts you to riding anything up to 33BHP for two years and no restrictions once the two years have passed.

    Things wot hurt.

Slipping and scraping your finger across the nice sharp teeth of a chainring. Had those few seconds when you think that was lucky its not too bad before the blood flowed and pain started. At least its not on the knuckle so won't be opening up every few minutes. This maintenance stuff isn't all...

    ST-M580 LX STI Dual Control Brake & Shifters - £18 a pair

Re: ST-M580 LX STI Dual Control Brake & Shifters - £18 a pai I really like them too, picked up a set for £15ish in a sale a couple of years ago. Only issue I have with them is that if I'm braking when going down a bumpy descent I sometimes end up changing gear without meaning to. Might get...
