Shimano BCD weirdness - advice please!

Thanks all - I knew Retrobike would have the answer :-) . My next idea was to buy a normal steel Shimano middle ring and see if that fits - good to know it will. It hadn't occurred to me that Shimano might have done this because these old square taper setups could be lighter than their...

SOLD: Dirt cheap hack bike frame - 20" GT Avalanche

***SOLD*** GT Avalanche frame For 26" wheels, 1 1/8" forks - disc or v-brake It's had a pretty hard life - there's some paint loss around the front derailleur mount, a small dent on the downtube and some flecks of pink (!?) emulsion from a shed incident. But it's straight, there's no cracks...

What's the dealio with this disc adaptor?

Can anyone help explain how this thing works please? Specifically how it interacts with the hub and rear dropout? It seems like you have to replace a cone or something to fit it... :?: :?: Thank you :D

What on earth have I just bought?

Thanks very much for the additional info tufty. I did have a quick look under the BB and I think the respray might have obscured any stamps on the frame, but I'll take a closer look this eve. I'm pretty sure it's a Vertik from 1997 or 98. The bullet end rear stays and most of the spec (SRAM ESP...

What on earth have I just bought?

Re: Re: Winner! There was no manufacturer's marks on the frame, but the Rudd seatpost and bar gave it away. It rides perfectly nicely for £45. I've been doing laps of Parkwood Springs in Sheffield on it. Even the brake blocks and gears were well set up, but the BB is a bit creaky.
