The brakes were ok with the swap, and will be better again (as in quieter) now I've tightened the headset with a borrowed spanner I hope - it was all very clean and well greased, and not worn, which was nice. I've had the stem/steerer off and that was also lovely and clean, so the 1989 one will...

Update Seeker - bike collected from bikeshop with new bottom bracket (old one was a sod to get out, apparently, which makes me feel better about not being able to shift it myself). XCE crank temporarily removed pending a left-hand one turning up on eBay. Cheap triple from decathlon from the...

I just kept searching the name and variations of 'Muddy Fox' and 'brochure' 'range' and 'catalogue' - most of my searches led me here, and here I may stay :) Still don't know anything about the Trailblazer mind you. I think it's from the years the brand was going downhill - there are no Tange...

Thanks - pretty sure it has, but I'll check.

The front wheel is an araya but the rear isn't. The bike came with the other araya wheel as well, but the freewheel is broken, so I will get that sorted at some point. If mine looks as good as that I'll be pleased and surprised in equal measure!

Stems confuse me a bit, being as I am at least 20 years out of date :) The one on the Pathfinder has been changed - I presume there is an adapter there because it's got a clamp on stem (click to enlarge) Sooo - I want a bit more height in the Trailblazer when I put drops on it so am I...

Thanks. We're going for a family bike ride this weekend; the three of us, two quarter-century old Muddy Foxes and this bike-shaped-object I'll have a better idea then of what needs doing. The Seeker will be ready to collect on Saturday so by Sunday morning it will have smooth pedals, two...

I had to get the Seeker out the shed this morning to take to the LBS because my bash 'n' bodge method of getting the bottom bracket out wasn't working. So I took the opportunity to take pictures of 'the fleet' in the idylic surroundings of 'leaning against the back wall near the bins' Seeker...

Thanks - wish I'd bagged the Seeker myself now, but size-wise it's better for my OH to have that and for me to have the larger Pathfinder. Ah well :) I read your thread: the period stuff you've put on looks lovely. These though will be getting things replaced with their modern equivalents as...

Re: Re: Yours is a much higher standard than mine will be - it's great! Sadly these have to share a shed with a lawnmower and garden tools, so gorgeous paint would be wasted on them! The Seeker is a 1989 I think - it certainly seems to be the same as this - download/file.php?id=14168 The...

    My Muddys

I'm currently - and somewhat unexpectedly - restoring three Muddy Foxes. I used to ride a rather nice 531 Falcon road bike, until it got stolen from my garage about 13 years ago, although if I'm honest I'd hardly ridden it for 5 years by then. I decided to get back in to cycling and my dad...
