    GripShift compatibility

Cheers again guys. Went for the Sachs, they are leagues better than the originals, but to be fair, almost 20 years use out of the originals means they cant have been all bad :) Thanks again for all the help, bike has just been serviced as well so new shifters will get their first commute of...

    GripShift compatibility

According to the very worn marks they are SRT3001-32 I've seen a few Sachs sets on ebay, are they pretty much compatible then? I'm tempted to buy new though, would these be the ones if so: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sram-mrx-comp-t ... 5360097955

    GripShift compatibility

Hoping someone can shed some light on drive train issue. I have a 1994 Carrera which I have been riding for the last 19 years. Last summer it underwent a very long overdue refresh with a new powdercoat and pretty much all components replaced, all that is except the drivetrain including...

    Seat clamp bolt advice

Agreed, the seatpost will be checked regularly when everything is topped up, relubed etc. so no issue there. As for the issues with things being nickable, the bike is securely locked out of site at work...not that I've got £150 worth of carbon shelled Fizik saddle for anyone to nick anyway :D

    Seat clamp bolt advice

Almost finished a rebuild on my old commuter frame but I have done the very thing I vowed not to and lost a rather integral part! My original seat clamp bolt has gone walk about so I need to get a replacement...this is where I need some advice as I'm a bit confused about the correct size and...

    Drivetrain, crank, BB...persevere or replace!

Hmm, interesting. After a day of skinned knuckles and much swearing at the cross threaded crank I think I'm almost ready to ditch the 7 speed set-up. Never been totally convinced by the Grip Shift either and the gear change before I took everything off the bike was anything but smooth even...

    Drivetrain, crank, BB...persevere or replace!

I'm currently updating my daily commuter with some new bit's and pieces after many years of faithful service, it's a '94 Carrerra which I have posted up previously. I have purchased and fitted a new square taper BB as I didn't want to give up the old 7 speed drive train (even though it is...

    Powder Coating

As far as I am aware the colours are set....although the choice is hardly limited...when I asked for white he asked what sort of tint as they had about 8 options! He has colour books to choose from as far as I'm aware. Prob' best just to drop Martin a line, as I said, he's a really helpful...

    Powder Coating

Right, apologies for quality, decent camera has no battery so mobile phone camera it is for now. Prob doesn't show how nice a finish this really is: The guy who did this works for a company called CP Coaters in Corby. He does the bike frames on the side. His...

Northamptonshire The company I've found is in Corby...they were actually recommended to me by an industrial Powder coater I happen to do business with.

    Powder Coating

Colour coded bolts is a bonus, although I'll be going for some nice ano' bits and pieces to finish the frame. Just had a good chat with the people local to me as well. Apparently they do over a 100 frames a year, so plenty of experience and they have all the required bungs and seals for...

    Powder Coating

    Powder Coating

Hello all. I've finally managed to get around to giving my 1994 Carrera a new lease of life, originally posted here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... sc&start=0 It's done me proud as a daily commuter but damaged paint, some rust and a need to replace many, many broken and...

    Newbie...opinions please :)

What a site to behold :) Think mine has to be the same year then, 1994....it was a while ago now so I'll have to quiz my mate as to when he actually picked it up...mine had Scott forks originally, direct from Halfords. Would be interested to see where our two bikes sat in the range but...

    Newbie...opinions please :)

May well be interested in the decals. Not looking to respray as overall is in good nick, just needs cleaning and some touch up work here and there. The model is Technoshock and the carrera decal on the main tube has a metalised/brushed finish...how much for a set just out of interest?

    Newbie...opinions please :)

Cheers again for the comments. As mentioned, budget isn't an issue for new/used parts but I am reasonably proud that it has lasted as well as it is, hence wanting to make sure that any further additions are in keeping...I'm not a badge snob but seeing as it has lasted so well I figured...
